    Viceroy Boneyard Edition

FYI, I'm still in the process of troubleshooting my build so there's a chance I messed something up, but I used MMBF4393's for the JFET's and it could be that at least that substitute is not going to work. Most build reports seem to use PF5102, so I suggest going with those if possible.

Could you elaborate on what "slightly higher gain" means here, I used MMBF4393LT1G's and switched out R6 (on the PPCB board) to get Q1 biased to around 5V, but the end result is that if I dime level, gain and juice it's a quite low gain overdrive changing to a medium gain overdrive with the...

Chop Shop Overdrive Mockup Pedal - Arriving Soon!

Why not commit fully to the Chop Shop name and make the others volume-cut and gain-cut too? Think of all the UV print thematic possibilities!

SOLVED Pro10 Green Tone Sucking in Bypass?

That's a good thing to check, you could try rotating them but taking them out of the enclosure is a foolproof way to check. Just to reiterate what Chris was saying, the pedal is wired as true bypass, so when it's bypassed the signal goes Input Jack -> 3PDT -> output jack. It shouldn't enter the...

    Bass Balls Preamp Custom Pedal

Very clean looking build, nice job! I love the font choices too. What's the font for the "Preamp"?

Cast Iron Overdrive Mockup Pedal - Arriving Soon!

You could even advertise a convenient carry handle which could double as a pedalboard mounting point! I mean you could probably mount the whole pedalboard onto that thing and it would make the pedalboard more stable if anything.

So if the Life Pedal is a RAT, Green Ringer and a boost, then what is a Fuzz Factory, Green Ringer and a boost called? Very impressive build!

    Wonka Boost (Virile Boost)

I'm pretty bad at internal beautification, but one thing I noticed that's pretty simple and improves the look quite a bit is soldering one end of any wires, then measuring and cutting them before soldering the other end. Obviously you need to be careful to not cut too much, but it helps with...

SOLVED Pedals hissing less first in line compared to FX loop?

That would probably be the correct way to go about it, but I don't feel confident enough in my abilities to not mess up anything soldering a cap inside a 1600€ piece of kit. I ended up modding a cable, I had a WIMA 22nF cap (so -3dB frequency is around 13kHz, should be just fine) that just fit...

SOLVED Pedals hissing less first in line compared to FX loop?

Well it was more "week and a half" than tomorrow, but @JTEX I think you might be correct. I first tried with the Cthulhu, but I think it has some other grounding issues too because it just gave a nasty sound whenever I was touching the input jack with a cap, or the ground jack with a finger...

NSFW What's up with the buffers in cornish designs?

https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/american_english/fleece_2 Well, I'd say it fits the definition more or less if you make the product too expensive by adding unnecessary stuff. Not all dictionaries include that definition, I think it's more commonly used with some...

NSFW What's up with the buffers in cornish designs?

Yeah it was worded quite strictly. Private companies are not only trying to make money, and 29 pedals is a great example of that, even. If they were, they'd make the power side much simpler and use a cheaper enclosure and transfer all that cost to profit. Intellectual honesty and integrity do...

I think that's a very cynical view of things.

I think that's pretty well put, and the designer handbag comparison is reasonably apt. With a designer handbag you're (I assume, tbh I'm not very deep into the designer handbag scene) buying a status symbol. You pay a small amount for the actual handbag, and a large share for Being A Person Who...

SOLVED Pedals hissing less first in line compared to FX loop?

Do you mean in series? I could give that a try for sure. So far the same thing has also happened with the Aion Anubis (https://aionfx.com/app/files/docs/anubis_documentation.pdf - it's much better with the Body control at a certain point) and Moonn Aztec Sunn...

SOLVED Pedals hissing less first in line compared to FX loop?

No, here's a sound example. I used the modded Cthulhu-fuzz, essentially something between a fuzz face and a muff, but with the gain dimed all the time - so the example is more extreme than how it normally would be. I turned the noise gates off too. 1st is the Cthulhu alone. 2nd I turn on the...

SOLVED Pedals hissing less first in line compared to FX loop?

But if it's just about noise, why would something like a cranked Secret Preamp get rid of the noise? Edit: FWIW as an update to the last previous post I made, switching the JFET to a 2N5457 got rid of most of the noise, and now I pretty much run it as an always on tone enhancer thing.
