Odd I’ve never had that issue. Test it out and let us know how it goes. Otherwise try an audio probe and see where the volume drops off.

No that isn’t normal. Take a listen to mine on my Instagram. www.Instagram.com/spookyvibesfx. You’ll hear it engage and disengage. If you have a 2N5089 try sticking that in backwards (literally flip it around the other way) instead of the 549c which I’m not sure is a drop in replacement for 550c.

M800 EQ section does very little

Built one a few weeks back, and yes, the EQ section does very little. lol

    Isosceles toggle switch orientation

Yeah, just a little background. The Preamp mode is the TC Integrated Preamp, which is what the Grind and 33 are based off of. From what I understand the Grind and 33 are basically the TC Integrated Pre with fixed values for Bass and Treble, which is why it deactivates the bass and treble knobs...

Yes that looks accurate to me. As I said, I'm not 100% on which mode is 33 and which is Grind on the right toggle. Judging by how they SOUND, I think up is 33 because it's a bit more scooped and knife-y (if that's a word) compared to the down mode.

Left toggle up is Preamp, left toggle down is Boost. Preamp mode activates the bass and treble knobs. Boost mode activates the right toggle and deactivates bass and treble knobs. Right toggle up I BELIEVE is 33 mode. Right toggle down I BELIEVE is Grind mode. @PedalPCB can confirm. Here's one...

Two Rock John Mayer Sig Preamp Pedal

I'd leave the bottom open and stick that on my wall.

Stripboard to Schematic to Breadboard. Good/Bad?

Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Stripboard to Schematic to Breadboard. Good/Bad?

One skill I'd love to learn is converting schematics to breadboard or PCB. One of these days I'll have timeeeeee.

Using trimmers in place of pots

@almondcity @Feral Feline I've never seen one in person before so this is super helpful. On another note, does multi-turn mean they are more 'dial-in-able' than the standard trimmers we are used to that have about as much turn as a normal pot?

Using trimmers in place of pots

Shit that’s great. Are they short enough to not hit the enclosure along side regular PCB mount pots or did you have to bend em sideways?

Gauss Drive 1N4448 and also 19k resistor in general

GuitarPCB intermittently has through-hole J201s. Keep an eye on this page: https://guitarpcb.com/product/jfet-j201/

Using trimmers in place of pots

Seems promising as long as the legs can reach the pot spacing!

Using trimmers in place of pots

Did you just bend the legs out to hit the spacing of the pads for PCB-mount pots?

Using trimmers in place of pots

I figure a couple header pins will stand it off the PCB as well.

Using trimmers in place of pots

I’ve considered it for sure, I’m just happy to pay for them if someone else makes them or has any ideas.

Using trimmers in place of pots

I like to do this from time to time if I'm doing a combo build and I want to hide some of the controls internally. Has anyone come up with a clever way of fitting the trimmer to the spaced 16mm PCB mount pot holes that isn't just putting a wire out to the 3 legs? I'm looking for something a...

Gauss Drive 1N4448 and also 19k resistor in general

And to answer your question, the likelihood of a resistor value not being available is usually due to its rarity in use. There are various reasons for this. It could be that the person(s) who designed the circuit used a trimmer to find what sounded perfect to them, which was 19k, so they used...

Gauss Drive 1N4448 and also 19k resistor in general

Yes you can stick resistors together in combination to add up to a value that you need (resistors in series add up). It's worth noting that resistors have tolerances. Tayda carbon film resistors have a 5% tolerance. 5% of a 20k resistor is a 1k tolerance one way or the other, so you may measure...
