Low voltage and no heat makes them very attractive. It'd be easy to fit a pair in a 125B - just mount them on the backside of the board and put the rest of the components "over" them.

I've never done this, but what about drying it with compressed air instead of letting it air dry? With IPA, should be a quick process.

OT failsafe? Don't see why you couldn't use one for the speaker jack on an amp and wire a big-wattage 8R resistor from SW to GND. If no speaker is connected when the amp is on, the resistor is a dummy load.

What about the brand, part number and source for the 555 and filter caps? It's long in the past, but I remember a thread at DIYstomp that included someone with an issue and it turned out some variant of 555 didn't play nice in an SMPS at audio frequencies.

Only quick fix I can think of is try some 220pF caps from grid to anode to kill that super high end.

I picked up a used a Two-Notes Cab M+ for about $200 and love it. Had a Simplifier before that and also didn't really dig it. Software is easy and intuitive. Sounds great. Aux in makes it easy to play along with other stuff. XLR out...
