SOLVED kliche polarity protection diode fixed, now it squeals

The dual gang has been removed. And the squeal is still there.

SOLVED kliche polarity protection diode fixed, now it squeals

Heating the iron now. And I agree. Double U tee eff StewMac? How's anyone gonna know what they're getting into if you don't show them the instructions first. Rude.

    Micro Addition plus

Have you tried using an audio probe? Your problem sounds familiar to me. Like I had a similar problem a few years back. And I was able to track it down, and it was a cold solder joint that I didn't see with my magnifying glass.

SOLVED kliche polarity protection diode fixed, now it squeals

A friend handed over a Stewmac Ghost Drive/ Kliche to me to repair. It worked for a few years, then went dead. I replaced the bad wiring (some were burnt at the ends), and cleaned what I could. The builder used glue to hold the wires on the the jacks, along with solder. And the pots were...

    Pedal Board of my Dreams

The gold flaking is rather appropriate for a super fuzz. I like a bit of ugliness on a fuzz pedal. I have a yet to be used enclosure beneath my espresso press, to prop up the mug, that is covered with coffee stains. I occasionally think of clear coating the brown and black ring stains, and using...

    Maleficent Mids (JHS Haunting Mids)

I agree with the comparison to the Mercurial. One or the other are a must have on the board. Great work, Five Stars indeed.

    Wet/dry pedal?

I am wiring up a Buff and Blend right now. I'm going to add it to a modded Green Ringer. I have used the Buff n Blend in a few builds, including my first modded Big Muff. It was on my board for two years. I was adding small, or large amounts of fuzz into most song I played live. It made me...

    Fuzz Foundry (GuitarPCB) and Mercurial

Toshiba M8640E and Sanyo 2SA322 . I don't recall the Hfe. I got them from a place in Quebec, https://thedhtsstore.com ,I bought a bunch of different brands, thinking I would swap them a few times. But I haven't touched them.

    Fuzz Foundry (GuitarPCB) and Mercurial

A few months ago I bought some Germanium transistors from Guitar PCB, and decided to get some boards as well. I thought, "I love a good fuzz face, why not try a fuzz factory?" So I popped it together, and fell in love with the fuzz, and the tweakability. But I wanted to be able to boost it, and...

    Sproing and two CrackleJacks

For the last few years I've been using a Belton Brick reverb pedal that I made from GGG. It has been paired with a few other effects, mostly boosts, in a 1590b or bb. The simple Belton reverb has suited my needs. And I found I was using a SHO boost most often with the reverb, and I had them...

    PPCB Circulator

Well done. I like the large font lettering. Very bold and clean. I too, built a Circulator and find it's a better phaser then a Phase ii (half a Duophase) for my needs. Since putting it on my board, I haven't touched the knobs much. It's become a "set it, and forget it" pedal. I plan to build...

    Electronics and eyesight

I use a jewellers loupe. I got it from a friend years ago to look at the tri-combs on cannabis I tried growing. I hold it against my cheek, and bring the component towards my eye. Unlike a magnifying glass, where its held away from you. I work under an average desk lamp. Then use my phone...

Newbie Questions; Left in dark in another forum

I too built that 3 Transistor Champ of a circuit, some time ago. I believe I went with J201's. But I haven't decided where to use it. It's such a small board that I plan to cram it into another pedal. It's always fun to have an extra boost in the path. In fact, a lot of the boards from that...

    DOD Death Metal

Wonderful work. I see you didn't go with the original names. Guts Pain Scream and R.I.P.. I'm thinking those dirt monger pcbs could fit in the original DOD enclosure. I may have to dig out the busted one I have. The tactile switch crapped out. Thanks for the inspiration.

    2 One-Knobbers in a 1590b?

1590b is a tight fit. Here's a photo of a belton reverb/sho I built. It's in a 125b. Both circuits have been in and out of previous builds, so the wires are a mess. To help with space, the switches are angled. And the pots are off board. I hope it helps. It's always fun having two in one.

    Identify this circuit?

My guess is Fuzz as well. Two Germanium transistors, and one Silicon.

    Phase II and the Circulator

Well I got it going again. I wiggled some TL072 around. The yellow defused LED pulses again. But it never goes fully dark. no matter the trim pot settings. The circuit does phase. I tested the IC voltages and got similar numbers to what Coda posted back in April when he was trouble shooting: "I...

    Phase II and the Circulator

All my futzing with the guts outside of a box has lead me to further problems. The LED has no pulse. I must've bumped something loose while pulling and swapping IC's. Looks like I have tomorrow's project. Dang it. Thank you for your patience.

    Phase II and the Circulator

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give the IC's a swap tonight. And I'll do a side by side comparison for headroom. And I'll give the Phase II a stress test. Man, I got a lot to do. I guess the four other finished builds I have on the bench will have to wait another day for enclosures.
