    Tone vendor bender mk2 bias

Just what I noticed on my breadboards but you guys know more than me. Or rather I know nothing and you guys actually have knowledge.

    Tone vendor bender mk2 bias

From my experimentation with MKII Tone Benders, Q1 doesn't need high gain and high leakage. A gain of 60-80 and >60 leakage seem to suffice. Too much leakage in Q1 creates a lot of noise. Q3 needs more leakage. The goal is to get Q3c close to -8V naturally, without messing with the bias. This...

Gutting a crappy wah and putting a better circuit in

I just want to say I agree with your assessment of the Classic but it's definitely true bypass so there should be no tone suck. Maybe yours has an issue? Joe Gang makes boards that fit a Crybaby shell. It might be a good chance to try out a Maestro Boomerang wah, for example. But I think the...

Low Tide LPG and BBD not working

Mine does nothing. As I turn up the Mix, the dry volume goes down, as expected. I replaced all kinds of chips and checked the J201 orientation multiple times. It is now an expensive specimen in my hall of shame. I also had trouble fitting the 6 pots to my hand-drilled enclosure. I hate this...

    Soldering tip recommendations?

really tiny for me. I like girth. 1.6mm would be ideal for PCBs. Say what now? Chisel is so much better. Never understood why the conical is tip is the default one. Probably because it's cheaper to manufacture.

They are white washers in blackface

I feel like I'm missing a reference but nevertheless I like the artwork and I'm a sucker for a good Fuzzrite.

    Auditorium Test Platform Question

Not at the moment. But it's very simple. Take male-male breadboard jumpers and stick em in the terminal blocks. When you want to test a board either stick them in the pads on the board or connect them to wires soldered to the board with alligator clips

    DuoPhase

Very nice. For my build I'm going to use shielded wire to get rid of ticking. Hopefully it works.

Poison Apple Auto-Wah - With a Mod for Bass

I don't understand how you wired up the switch to add the 22n caps.

    Soldering tip recommendations?

Now you know who to blame when the next twenty boards don't work :)

    Soldering tip recommendations?

I use a hoof tip but for PCBs chisel tips work better for me as I can rest the flat part against the lead and pad. It's a bit harder with a hoof tip because it's rounded. A medium knife tip works well on larger components like turrets, pot lugs and the back of pots. I tin the tip and clean it...

TC1 users, some questions for you

In my case both leakage and hfe go down and eventually settle. It means the transistors are cooling down. Don't handle them with your hands, use tweezers. Or wait.

how did you solder a soldering iron?

Which soldering iron do you like?

I see. I don't understand why a designer looking for a clean look wouldn't choose a knob or up/down arrows for temperature instead of the perverted UI they went for :)

Which soldering iron do you like?

Isn't that the opposite? The designer would probably have wanted arrow buttons or a knob but the engineer asked for 50 menus of custom options then the penny pinchers made the final decision. (As they say in design circles, a giraffe is a horse designed by a committee.)

    Fuzzy Foxx

Nice! I built mine from a Musikding kit and later added a 3-way toggle to cycle through the stock 3n3 cap, 13n3 and 15n3 - the latter is my go-to setting as it removes the mid scoop and it makes the pedal audible. It's really cool!
