Yes, that is a brass plate. It was hand sized/shaped/brushed.

    Guvenator Build Completed

Ok, here is the final product. While the execution was way off target and several lessons learned, the athestics are much closer to what I envisioned. The biggest take away is the enclosure is the aspect of the build that consumes the most linear time. Depending on materials used, there can be...

    Guvenator Build Completed

The assembly was pretty straight forward. It sounds great! I wanted to do a little more for the astehtics than a simple black box, so I dressed her up a bit. I may do some water slide labeling, but for now I think most folks will know what this pedal is about.

Which soldering iron do you like?

I've been using a Circuit Specialists Station 75 unit for the past few years. And I've been fairly happy with it. But I just upgraded to the Weller WE1010NA. Here are my reasons for upgrading and why I choose the Weller unit. Better tip temperature consistency. Sleep mode. On/off on front of...

Turning PedalPCB Build Docs into Buy Lists

I created an Excel template to organize the BOM. It's still a work in progress but ultimately I'll have it to auto sum parts, populate quantities. Right now I have to manually count up the quantities for each component. I also have a column so I know what supplier I order the parts from...

SOLVED Daydream Width Doesn't Sound Right

I doubled checked resistors and capacitors and they are all correct. I think I discovered my issue. The regulator was in backwards. Took it out and put in back in with proper orientation. Now there is no LED and no signal. Have a new regulator on the way. We'll plug that in and see what...

SOLVED Daydream Width Doesn't Sound Right

I'm going to pop out the TL072IP and put TL072CP's. I don't have any of the CP's right now but will see if that fixes things.

SOLVED Daydream Width Doesn't Sound Right

Here is a clip with the toggle alternating between Down and Up. First chord is toggle Down, next chord is toggle Up, then down and so on....

SOLVED Daydream Width Doesn't Sound Right

I recorded a short snippet of chords, using a Strat neck pup. the first four chords are with the width set to 0, The next set of chords the width is set at 12 O'clock. The third set is with the Width wide open and the last is just an A chord. Mix is at 12 O'clock and Volume is unity. The...

SOLVED Daydream Width Doesn't Sound Right

The two positions engage very different types of delay.

SOLVED Daydream Width Doesn't Sound Right

Finished assembling the Daydream pedal. Four of the five controls perform as expected. The Width control seems to work a little contrary to what I expected and/or understood its function to be. First, the repeats get very peaking (thin and higher frequencies). With the Width turned fully...

    Vented Capacitor

I replaced all the caps I had replacements for. There are two banks of 10uf caps, each containing eight caps. For the bank associated with the DC power jack, I went with 25 volt and 105 degrees. The the other bank of eight I used 50 volt 105 degrees as that is what I had on hand. The temp rating...

    Vented Capacitor

I have a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 that started humming when I first apply power to it. Pulled the cover and saw on cap bulging on top. Pulled the board and removed the suspect capacitor and sure enough, it's physically leaking on the bottom. The fix is pretty straight forward at this...

Power Supply recommendations? (Anything inexpensive and reliable?)

8 fuzz pedals!?!? I used a Dinner for a handful of analog pedals. Now 8 am using a Voodoo Labs unit. I don't notice anything so IMI, that's a good thing. I'm powering a few digital pedals, with the Hali and Cloudburst requiring the lions share of the MA's.
