On the Arachnid PCB, do the 914's have to be 914's?

That's true. In all it's turning out to be a bit more than I wanted to deal with. I'll follow thru with a different idea

King of Tone - which readily available diodes?

In my last build I used 4148's and 1s1588's. If I didn't have the 1588's on hand I would just use 4148's for everything. I'm not partial to the hard clipping part of the circuit - the soft clipping sounds much better to me. But so does the boost when it's overdriven when set up with the high...

On the Arachnid PCB, do the 914's have to be 914's?

Thank you for your replies. What if I used VREF (4.5v) as a source for the 1p8t switch instead of the L78L33? Also, if I used a combination of 914's and LED's such that the pin 6 trace, for example, has one LED and one 914, would that cause voltage to pass thru the 914 only? Does the LED with...

On the Arachnid PCB, do the 914's have to be 914's?

Can I use, for example, red LED's instead? Asking for a friend

    How do you ship pedals?

I keep boxes and packing materials from amazon etc. The bubble wrap envelopes from Tayda are the best for pedals. As far as shipping, USPS is the cheapest. Just go on the website, make an acct and use the click n ship thing, then enter in your package dimensions and 2 lbs for the weight. At the...

Can these be used for pedalpcb.com builds?

I use these in most of my builds. They are cheap, compact, and reliable. The ones you linked have a tendency to short out if they are tightened just a bit too much

What voltage and frequency make the most sense for guitar?

I think to simulate an approximation for guitar you would need to be able to analyze a complex signal, ie at least a major triad with inherent harmonics, as produced by the resonant peaks and EQ curves of different pickups, particularly modern single coils vs PAF humbuckers. AKA good luck

    Working thru my other projects

I got back to finish this the other day. I wanted to make it an HSH so I opened up the pickup cavities to make it a swimming pool route, then applied new copper tape. Some of the pickguard screw holes weren't doing too well and others were in the wrong places, so I bought a 3/16" dowel at HD to...

Gold and/or silver spray paint that goes on smooth?

I've used this stuff with good results. The key is to start with a primer that leaves a smooth finish, like Rustoleum Bonding Primer, and then go over it with this. I do 5 or 6 coats of each. Start with two very light mist coats. You want to give the paint molecules a chance to bond with the...

    OpAmp suddenly quiet

Intermittent issues are usually physical - one wire was in the right place and then was bumped out of place. Listen to Swelchy above - clean soldering equals reliability. Spend some time watching youtube about how to solder to boards etc and see if you can pick up some tips, then take another go...

    Thumb Sucker

I use this pedal a lot. It's my favorite compressor. When I built this pedal I put the jacks on the side so that if I set up the pedal vertical the jacks would end up on top. I never ended up using the pedal like that and the jacks were just super annoying all being on one side so today I took...

Who makes a small Chorus or Flanger PCB?

Bean's is laid out nicely. The only confusing thing is that the "Standard Series" is separate from the rest of the effects. Navigating GPCB feels like the whole site is a pop up ad for itself

Who makes a small Chorus or Flanger PCB?

I might try that one. Their website layout is a huge turn off for me. Why do all the boards say "best" in the titles? Which one really is the best?

Who makes a small Chorus or Flanger PCB?

I want to make a chorus or flanger into a 1590b, preferably horizontal. Who has a PCB small enough to go in one of these?

    Desoldering Advice

Superwick 425 desoldering braid is the key here. After you wick out most of the solder, press the pins over inside the solder pad hole with the soldering iron, then wick out the remnant solder. Should come out nicely.

Bipolar LED on DMI Dual Octave Pedal

Sometimes you need to take the PCB and move things around until you get the functionality you want. The pedal looks like it's set up with 3 LEDs - one to indicate bypass, one for 1 octave up and another for 2 octaves up. The one oct up is always on. It's weird to me they did it like that but...
