I figured out the high-pitched sound and it was, luckly, just a bad patch cable. Odd it worked fine in bypass, but I'm glad there isn't a problem with either pedal :)

I put electrical tape under the pots because I forgot to order dust covers, but I’ve got some in my next shipment!

It was the depth. I don’t know how I missed it but it was the depth. I feel embarrassed but also relieved 😅

Adding a couple more pictures. I just replaced R103, which seems to be the resistor before LED2 in the circuit. It had a little bit of blue film showing on the underside of the board, which made me suspicious that it was blocking the contact. It did not fix true problem unfortunately.
