Mostly D’Addario regular 10s. I have also used their balanced 10s and like their 9.5 set a lot also. I had some of their chromes on a jazz box but ultimately went back to roundwounds.

I haven’t built one yet but I’m pretty sure you could use the sidechain function on the muzzle to do this. Just plug the guitar into the side chain and then the other signal into the in and out.

I would try reflowing the solder joints. These look like they could have bad connections but I would probably flow all of them.
