    Modding an SMD pedal

    Can you post a pic of the board? From what I can see on the schematic, assuming the markings in red are where the R.Attack differs from the RAT, the most important ones are the different filter values in the op amp feedback loop, the compensation cap being larger, and the clipping diodes being...

    Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

    I got started in Audacity. I think I recorded MIDI drums from Guitar Pro into that somehow, for the very first stuff I did?

    What kind of perf do I want exactly?

    That's a fair point. The one I linked seems to take solder quite easily, at least.

    What kind of perf do I want exactly?

    Looking at the pictures should help to clear it up a little bit. Something like https://www.taydaelectronics.com/small-stripboard-93x55mm-copper.html with the "strips" works for veroboard layouts like this https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2023/09/thorpy-fx-dane.html, where the strips are in...

    Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

    That is valid, but then again, wouldn't be the first case of overkill over here... Quite a lot of wants vs. needs around this, and hobbies in general - and that's completely fine IMO.

    Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

    Since you're on Mac, I vote for Garageband to start with. You can look at other DAW's later on. Logic is a great option on Mac, I use Reaper but I'm on Windows. I pretty much agree with all the other stuff said here too, although FWIW I've done all my recording, mixing and mastering on...

    Butt Head Tayda Template

    Butt Head Distortion looks to be the standard PPCB 4 knob layout, so you can take the drill template from https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/pcb251/ for example. The trick I do to check those sometimes is that I open both build docs (one with a verified Tayda drill link and one without) in...

    when to use mlcc capacitors

    I assume it might also be (at east partially) a case of the effect being very small amounts of audible distortion you can maybe hear in pristine conditions on good monitors, trained ears, and only listening to this signal, for example. ...and the pedal is a fuzz. So nobody can really say if it...

    Even more new Tayda colors!

    They're just really accurate with stock and have just enough paint left to do a single 125B, but not anything bigger?

    Harmonic Percolator turret board layout with added diode toggle?

    If you want to stick with the turret board (I understand it's for aesthetic reasons, which is of course completely fine), I can't help with that, maybe someone else can chime in. Personally, if I had to do something like that, I would just wire the diodes offboard. Using an SPDT for clipping...

    Resistors 100R and 47R

    Ohm and 0 gets especially tricky because sometimes the symbols can be partially cut off by the pads on PCB's. That's also why I agree, 100r would be better than 100R. Thankfully PPCB boards are always very clean about this and I don't remember seeing it happen, but it does happen on some other...

    Two tone fuzz

    Thanks for the transistor values, I need to choose the final transistors for mine still! I've had two builds where I'm pretty sure I've had actual smoke come out of them (IIRC it might have been transistors that had only 2/3 of their legs in sockets?) but I unplugged them immediately, and...

    Missing Build Docs / Schematics

    This worked fine for me https://drill.taydakits.com/box-designs/new?public_key=d0RidDhadTVnemZrRVBvaEFMOVA4dz09Cg== It's for an outie DC jack so change it to what suits you, or just copy the switch locations. Edit: I guess for posterity the Y positions are 38mm, 12.8mm and -8.3mm, so that's...

    Arachnid 1uF -> 470nF

    I can probably fit a 1uF film cap for C10 (and C6) without much issues.

    Arachnid 1uF -> 470nF

    For whatever brainfart reason, it seems that I ordered 470nF MLCC caps for the Arachnid instead of 1uF. Would I be fine using those, or should I just wait until I can get more 1uF caps? If it helps, I can use 1uF for C6 and one of C10 or C3 mostly easily, the others would have to be two of the...

    Parts Storage Solutions

    FWIW I use a plastic box but do the same for resistors, they go from low to high so you can look for the exact value. I also did some cardboard inserts (just pieces of cardboard) because putting them back where I took them from was a pain in the ass - the cardboard inserts simplify that part.

    FV-1 Stock and Binaura Question

    Right yes, my mistake, the Binaura is stereo input too of course, the Arachnid is mono, but you can do the dry-and-wet pseudo-stereo output there. Still mono input though on the Arachnid. Only the Binaura is stereo.

    FV-1 Stock and Binaura Question

    Breakout cable or a stereo cable into something else that is stereo. As far as I understand, yes, it would act like a normal arachnid - you're sending the wet signal to the tip, as usual, with dry signal going to ring, and ground to sleeve. Mono cable only has tip and sleeve, so the ring...

    Reversed power?

    The S8 manual mentions the polarity conversion cable, but it's a female-male, while the normal cables are male-male. So I assume that shouldn't be the case here - but they are marked center negative unlike yours. You could probably measure the cable end to end, sleeve-to-sleeve and...
