Heard back from him and turns out not to be the pedal, he put it straight into his amp with known to be good cables and no Radio station.

How microphonic are they? Can you sing into them?

Yes, I'm usually pretty good at cleaning all the jack, footswitch and potholes of paint, but I may have clear coated it after doing that. But since it only recently started, I'm thinking something else in his chain.
