Distortus Victorius (my homage to the Victory V1 pedals)

Looks great! TS into Kraken is tight!! Are you still getting the Kraken charge pump noise, depending on which order you run them?

Charge Pump Noise - Pedal Order Dependent

I did order a bunch of the TC7660HEPA charge pumps that Robert suggested might help (or make worse!), but they really didn't make much of a difference. Tried various combinations of those with the 1044CPA charge pumps, but nothing made the Cetus's whine go away when the gain is up, and the...

Distortus Victorius (my homage to the Victory V1 pedals)

Finally got round to boxing my dual Victory V1 Kraken (PedalPCB) and The Jack (John) pedal. I am such a huge fan of these pedals, and having built the Kraken, Jack and Cobbler as individual pedals, I decided to create a "channel switching" dual pedal. Was going to do a 3-channel box for all 3...

Powering Dual Pedals - Best Approach Needed

Yup, looks like my pedalboard

Powering Dual Pedals - Best Approach Needed

I have a bunch of these, just waiting to be used!

Powering Dual Pedals - Best Approach Needed

It's my understanding that wire carrying power should never be run alongside a signal line - e.g., don't run the power and the signal input or output wires together. The effect of this might be minimal, but in a high gain circuit, especially where you're not using shielded wiring, additional...

Powering Dual Pedals - Best Approach Needed

Thanks. I know I'll have no problem with the current draw - the question was more about potential power-supply induced noise, due to the nature of these circuits.

Powering Dual Pedals - Best Approach Needed

Thanks MDC, and yes, power wire routing is important. I'm typically not a fan of daisy-chaining power off a single 9V wall-wart. That's why I splurged on the 1 SPOT PRO CS12 12-output isolated power supply. When daisy-chaining, or using a cheap 8-output Donner power supply, there was definitely...

Powering Dual Pedals - Best Approach Needed

I'm about to start boxing my dual Victory (Cetus and John) pedal, controlled by PedalPCB intelligent relay boards. That means 9V needs to go to 4 boards in the enclosure. Since both pedal circuits use charge pumps to goose the voltage up to 18V, and I have an inherent distrust in charge pumps...

A-K Label on Intelligent Relay Bypass Board - Mistake?

Excellent, thanks Robert. Was hoping you’d respond.

A-K Label on Intelligent Relay Bypass Board - Mistake?

What’s up with the LED A-K marking on the back of this relay board? The top of the board is marked for a 2N3904 transistor, but the back has anode and cathode marked for 2 of the holes. Just confirming this is a printing mistake on the back of the board, and I should only solder the 3904…?

    Boss GE-7 - Frequency Change

Hi folks, I'd like to change the frequency of the 800Hz slider on an old Boss GE-7 to 750Hz (my favorite slider on the Mesa-Boogie EQ). Since the 10K slider can't change, can anyone provide me with exact value changes I'd need - assuming one or more of C5, C6, R6 and R7 will need to change...

    Volume (Pot?) Issue

Yes, I’d replace it. Had a similar issue. Removed the pot from the board, and with my multimeter set to measure resistance, I could tell exactly where the resistive element was “broken”, as I turned the knob.

Charge Pump Noise - Pedal Order Dependent

Sounds plausible - thanks Robert. Wasn’t aware of “heterodyning”. Just for grins, I asked ChatGPT what could be going on. Not a bad set of answers, but not as smart as you are ;-) The whining noise in your guitar pedal when using an 18V charge pump could be due to a number of reasons. Here are...

Charge Pump Noise - Pedal Order Dependent

One other point to add… the two other Victory V1 pedals I’ve built (Jack and Cobbler), with very similar topologies to the Kraken, don’t have this problem with placement relative to the Kliche. The only difference being that I built them on vero, as opposed to a PCB.

Charge Pump Noise - Pedal Order Dependent

Thanks. Yes, ground wire connected on the input jack (bottom left). No need to ground the output jack at the top with a wire, as it's grounded directly to the enclosure. On the whole, I mostly don't ground the output jacks with an additional wire - more chance of introducing a ground loop...

Charge Pump Noise - Pedal Order Dependent

I need the collective brain power of this fine forum please to help me solve this... I have two PedalPCB pedals - a Kliche Mini (Klon), and a Cetus (Victory Kraken). I'd like to think I build quality pedals, with clean soldering, and clean, minimal wiring. Both pedals use a charge pump to...
