Thinking about Op Amps - help?!

Also, might I suggest alternatively that you build an opamp fuzz/distortion as it’s own thing. That will give you some more flexibility and allow you to use it with anything. Listen to some clips of the Hovercraft Ionostrofear. PPCB has it too.

Thinking about Op Amps - help?!

It doesn’t need to be non-inverting. As it is, that volume stage gives, *I think*, a gain of around 6 with the Volume all the way up. If you replaced the volume control with a larger pot, say 1Meg, you’ll have ten times that which would certainly be enough to overdrive the opamps to the point...

    Thoughts on Tayda IC's?

I have a couple PT2399 I bought from them a year or two ago and have yet to use, I hope they’re ok. Other than that I’ve ordered many chips and transistors from them and have yet to have an issue. I did notice the difference in the quality of the markings between TL072 I got from Tayda vs ones...

    Best/Cheapest source for Enclosures?

Small Bear has some gloss red 125b for $4.75. They also have some powder coated and polished 1590b for $3.75. I picked up a few of each along with a fairy large order and my shipping was $10.75.

Where do I get the good stuff? (Stripboard)

@bowanderror thanks for the links. I’ll check those out and that blog as well. @finebyfine I didn’t realize you had a site! That’s pretty cool. I’ve always considered setting up a blog to share what I learn and create. That’s part of the spirit of our community after all. Where would we be...

    Bass Big Muff Pi

You can build most standard big muff variants with that PCB (Russian, Triangle, Rams Head, etc.), but if you mean the one with the direct out and a bass boost/dry switch, you can see the circuit here on freestomboxes. As you can see, it is a bit more involved circuit wise. Idk what they were...

Where do I get the good stuff? (Stripboard)

That’s a good idea. I could get the best fit for enclosures, and have fun with the silkscreen. Thanks!

Where do I get the good stuff? (Stripboard)

It looks like some of the stuff Seeker uses has a wider lead spacing, so I’m going to try looking for something with 0.15” pitch as opposed to the usual (I think) 0.1” I’m not trying to rip them off, but I think making something in that vain would be super satisfying!

Where do I get the good stuff? (Stripboard)

I think you’re on to something, but it says that has no strips or pads, so it’s just phenolic material with holes. I’ll look more on that site.

Where do I get the good stuff? (Stripboard)

Thanks for that, I do want to do turret stuff eventually. Maybe build an amp

Where do I get the good stuff? (Stripboard)

Hi all, I am looking to make some artsy vintage-y builds, mostly inspired by the Seeker Electric Effects stuff (from Instagram @seekereletriceffects): So, I'm looking for some nice quality stripboard material. I have some of the cheap stuff and it works well enough but is definitely not the...

    Fjord Fuzz Berserk

Thank you for the info @Chuck D. Bones, that makes perfect sense. I love the Fuzz Face sound too, but hate working with the circuit. And having spent so much time on it, it doesn’t surprise or challenge me anymore, it just annoys me. That said, I am getting my first germanium stuff soon, so I...

    Fjord Fuzz Berserk

The whole input and output stage around a Fuzz Face reminds me of a rabbit hole I went down a year or two ago. I breadboarded a bunch of different ideas, trying to make something different (I know, something different with the Fuzz Face *eye roll*) One thing I remember was an op-amp buffer in...

    Fjord Fuzz Berserk

I've seen this configuration pop up in all sorts of devices before and after the Space Echo. Some use JFETs in Q1 (Q3), but many others use BJTs in that position instead. What is the purpose of the emitter follower? I've seen that a lot too, like in the Super Fuzz or the Bosstone. In the Super...

Does anyone have info on the Bear Boost Plus from Small Bear?

Thanks for the response! I was considering that, might as well reach out and see if he has it. He really does encourage using what you got, and the article explains the circuit was for him to use germaniums that didn't work well in the usual circuits. Sounds right, I looked at it more and...

Does anyone have info on the Bear Boost Plus from Small Bear?

Hi all. I was scrolling through Small Bear’s clearance sale and noticed that they’re PCBs are pretty well discounted. I want to take a crack at the Bear Boost Plus, but I can’t find info on it aside from the write up from Steve at Small Bear found here. However, it’s missing some crucial info...

Ceaser chorus switch doesn’t do anything

Between triangle and sine! Which I imagine is extremely subtle, especially on lower LFO rates. With the speed up it might sound a bit choppier on the triangle setting.

Looks like the ROG website has a perfboard layout. The other page of the document you got the image from has a transfer image for etching your own PCB.

    The Creamery Compressor

To elaborate, many different chips in those single DIP packages. They aren’t very common but they pop up in older gear like opamps as seen in older Boss stuff. Ik the Milk Box is VCA’s based, so that’s THAT ;) Edit: upon closer inspection, I think I see a Coolaudio logo on the chips, so they...
