My first Vero Amptweaker Tight Metal in a 1590b

Impressive. I made a tagboard one in a 1590BB (or 1590BBT? I forget) and I thought that was a squeeze.

    Always on boost/low drive pedal

For lower gain and clean stuff, just on top of the clean tone as an ‘enhancement’, I really like the boss FA1, my very first pedal I made was a BYOC kit of the FA1. pretty simple but the eq is very flexible, and as the volume goes up it also adds a bit of drive in a very pleasing way. Simple...

    Always on boost/low drive pedal

I always use a boost of some sort, but the one consistent always-on for me (for gain tones at least!) is a GE7 eq at the beginning of the chain just to cut some lows and boost some mids. Not extreme, but enough to make the unboosted sound a bit clearer and tighter, and the boosted sound (with a...

    Triangulum boost

I put a switch on my Triangulum to switch between ‘triangulum’ and ‘crush’ mode from the isosceles, just adding a resistor in one part of the circuit. subtle difference. I thought about getting the isosceles but I already had the Integral from when it was released. Also one knob pedals look cool.

HM2 / Promethium distortion mod - bypass distortion?

I did receive the transistors yesterday and it’s now fully up and running. I thought I may need to ground the distortion circuit when bypassed but I don’t notice any additional noise when it is bypassed so I just left it floating. I would need to pull everything out of the enclosure to get to...

HM2 / Promethium distortion mod - bypass distortion?

I’ve never been that good with wire management. At least it’s not veroboard as we all know, knowing what the knob does is not necessary with an HM2.

HM2 / Promethium distortion mod - bypass distortion?

This is a good call I found out the hard way. i noticed my missing transistors are in the distortion stage so I finished wiring in the footswitch and gave it a try, no noise in ‘normal’ mode which is expected, but in EQ-only mode, very sputtery. I added a cap after the 10k resistor on the...

HM2 / Promethium distortion mod - bypass distortion?

I got all my parts ready, and I realised I forgot to order two of the transistors needed for this one (2N5457 and 2N3906) I have a spare J201 that I believe would work in place of the 2N5457 (a google search shows some people saying that in that position any n-channel jfet should work)...

HM2 / Promethium distortion mod - bypass distortion?

cool, I will give that a try, may start this one this weekend.

HM2 / Promethium distortion mod - bypass distortion?

so I should ‘intercept’ the circuit before the Q1 transistor (I assume input buffer)? good point about using an spst switch so I lift the connection going into the distortion part of the circuit.

HM2 / Promethium distortion mod - bypass distortion?

Hi everyone, I have just got a Promethium distortion pcb in the mail, I've waited long enough for Boss to make a Waza HM2, so I'll just make one myself. I was thinking of also making a tagboard HM2 EQ only for use with other distortions, or just for some 'HM2 flavor' without the clipping, but...

    Resistor size

You can also use normal 1/4 watt sized resistors on those boards, they’ll just have to be standing up (like pic attached).

    Wonder Drive

Cool, thanks for comparing. Do you think those changes will make a significant change in the sound? I like mine but now I’m wondering if I should build another.

    Triangulum - schematic error?

My original TC integrated preamp has a UA741 in it. I know there were a few versions though, some had TL071, and some other single op amp I forget. I have an OPA604 in my clones (the integral, and an old tagboard one I made a while back) and I can’t really say there’s any difference. I want to...

Not a question, but a complaint

Velcroed to the wall, that’s a great idea. I’m taking up a bunch of shelf space with my unused ones, I may try that.

    Pedalboard jacks

I used the cheapos off eBay for all my patch cables, which only have a solder tab for the tip, I like them, cheap and functional. I burned up maybe three before I figured out how to solder the ground onto the housing. I would twist the shield around so it came up to the edge of the housing...

    Integral Preamp

This is one of my favorite boosts of all time. Finished building the ‘integral preamp’ recently, to replace a tagboard version of the integrated preamp I made a while back so I could have a bypass switch. But there were some drawbacks with that one - larger enclosure, and I didn’t know about...
