Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

I cringe when I see my old layouts with the toggle between the upper knobs. :ROFLMAO: The offset switches look best when there are two of them.

Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

So look, did I ever mention that I have a problem? ... I pre-ordered one shortly after this thread popped up... then I got impatient... so yeah, I'll end up with two. We'll see if the second one (technically the first, I suppose?) is the same. We can A/B them and see if the goop really is...

Butt Head Pedal Not Working Correctly

No, the pot housings don't need to be grounded, but they will be as soon as you install them into the enclosure... unless the powdercoat insulates them. Regardless, that wouldn't cause the issue you're having.

Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

I purposely offset the toggle switches to 0.8" spacing (like a 5 and 6 knob pedal). It just looks less cramped and allows for larger knobs. VS That's the "Sustain" pot. "Bias" is exactly what it sounds like, it adjusts the bias (similar to the pot in the Fancy Fuzz you posted). The...

Should be 2 - 3 weeks I reckon. I'm going to go ahead and order a bunch of the transistors today and have those ready.

It's a modified Boss Tone, as suspected.

Guidance on setting BIAS pot on SiliSmile Fuzz?

Technically you're shooting for 4.5 - 5VDC on the collector of Q2, or whatever sounds best. https://www.analogman.com/manuals/PDFs%20(may%20be%20older)/sunface.pdf

Introducing the Phantasmagoria Spectral Delay Engine - Built in plugdata

Loved the game (shows my age), can't wait to hear the demo. :)

Most elegant way to sub potentiometer with internal trimpot

How about the TweakIt? It uses all three pins and can be externally accessible by side-mounting it in the enclosure if you'd like. https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/6-9-3/ (Or you could just kludge a 9mm or 16mm pot in there, I've mounted full size toggle switches internally before)

Well on the bright side, your soldering looks much better than the other one. :ROFLMAO:

Man I repaired one of those "indoor rollercoaster simulator" rides one time, the PCB in the control module had been shattered somehow and pieced back together with JB Weld.... This thing took people up in the air and swung them around and stuff.... No thanks. EDIT: This thing... (older...

You'll have to goop it yourself. I also added polarity protection and a filter cap but you're welcome to omit them both and live dangerously. :ROFLMAO:

Does the LED light up? Do you have a DMM to take some voltage measurements?

    Median Compressor not working

No, that's not right. Pull the ICs out of the sockets and measure again on the empty sockets.

    Median Compressor not working

Tayda has through-hole 2N5457's? Do you have another set of opamps you could try, by any chance? I'm not familiar with the ones made by ST (mine are all TI) but a TL072 with a notch is usually a red flag.

    What's on the workbench?

Don't worry, I saved it for you.

Seriously.... if you're going to goop a pedal, please, use proper polarity protection. Anything less is just rude.

This guy too, ironically. (Sorry @swelchy, this should all be over soon)

    What's on the workbench?

I've decided to phase out PCBs and start offering pre-cut veroboard instead. :ROFLMAO: It was a "quick and easy" trace verification, and I figured this way I could go ahead and put the original back together. (I usually leave them disassembled until time to verify the PCB) My work area...
