    Buzz Aldrin - BC109 vs BC109C vs BC549(C)?

it is important to note that the source of the transistor also plays a part ... most available BC109C are coming from CDIL in India ... and there are the older ones that have the proper gain range then there's the newer ones where the gain range is 800+ there are a number of BC109C available...

Lemon Rockerverb- no sound when engaged

true ... should he get there it will probably sound ok on its own ... chained up with the wrong amp or pedal and he'll wonder why it sounds like there's been a blanket thrown over the toanz

Big Muff Pi permanent tone bypass

I 've done the hard tone bypass before as part of a larger set of mods ... was unprepared for the results, definitely not the same as the tone bypass switching on the old op amp muff

Lemon Rockerverb- no sound when engaged

I don't care to read through 6 pages of troubleshooting at this point but I would like to point out that this circuit is poorly designed with regards to the placement of the tone stack, volume pot, and the output. I strongly suggest acquiring a small buffer for insertion between the output of...

    What's on the workbench?

the bigger muff ... now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time. (a long time ago, in a facebook group far far away)

What can I run at 18 volts? or should I ask what not to run at 18 volts

and now that you're asking a technical question, you need to know what you're asking ... is that 18V+ or 9V+/9V-

    Klon/Kliche diodes

I'd argue that because you're clean blending the signal that the choice of clipping diodes is approaching cork sniffery, especially if we're down to quibbling the audible difference of hundredths of volts (Vf) in a hard clipping arrangement.

    Reputable source for LM308N?

btw ... so you can be "hip like badass" ... when shopping for metal can op amps on the bay, the packaging is a dead giveaway ... if it looks like this then you're getting genuine article. nobody is 3d printing the vintage socket for these or wasting their time relabeling the op amp as some...

Help with some Blue Breaker mods :)

honestly, the v1 blues breaker in all its subtle glory doesn't need all these bells and whistles as there's other designs that do those things just as well if not better ... if I had more time earlier, I would have said as much as it isn't like you're only going to build ONE overdrive pedal ever...

Help with some Blue Breaker mods :)

the presence control comes from the internal trimmer of the king of tone so no mystery there, the booster can be done one of two ways, like the morning glory does with the jfet at the end of the circuit (subtle) or a whole other boost circuit tacked onto the thing ... that's the way I'd go...

    Gadget Fuzz Schematic Question

the diodes in a SHO were a function of necessity. early SHOs didn't have them and the expensive Zetex BS170P would get clobbered by ESD ... to the point there were spare transistors taped to the inside of the enclosures. since ESD can happen in either direction (too positive, too negative) you'd...

    Transistors for fuzz pedals?

even analogman has multiple choices for the sandspur ... right now you can get perfectly good TFK transistors from smallbear in bc108B, 108C, and 109C and all of them are going to sound good ... they're fairly consistent so you can gain match them if you want to or you can just throw them in and...
