I replaced the 3k9 with a 50k trimmer as I read of others modding it to 39k. I didn't replace any of the existing trimmers.

I had the same problem on my build. I read about raising the 3.9k (R11) to 39k from a few places. I put a 50k trim and adjusted till the noise went away and thankfully it didn't change the tone. It's just as heavy now, but without the squeal. I have a real Dual Recto and it sounds pretty...

On the Promethium, it would splice between the connection of Vol#2 and C21. With this mod, Vol#2 now goes to Blend#3 and Blend#2 goes to where Vol#2 used to be. Here's a clip of me strumming a chord while I move the blend pot from clean to full.

I hope it helps. I edited my post to describe the pot connections. An interesting use I'm finding for the blend is to place the HM-2 after another distortion pedal and blend in a little bit of "chainsaw" for all new tones.

I modded my real HM-2. The schematic at the Peperspedals link shows it wired right in between the flip flop switching (Q4 & Q10). The Promethium also has the in and out buffers, so it should work the same. You can see where "send", "return" and "output" are wired, when using the Tagboard...

Though raising those resistors values helped me, it will also be worth trying some low gain MPSA06 & MPSA05's with the original resistors values. Several people have advised me to try them on DBA clones, like mentioned here: (On an FSB thread concerning the Fuzz Gun, which also used 2n5089's)...

I've also been waiting to get this one working. This is the only one I've seen traced on a forum years ago. It has the 430k (yellow-orange-yellow) resistors and 100nfs though I've also heard of some having 680nf. Besides the first half, where the fuzz is happening, the rest is confusing too...

Tone Bender MK3 and others like it: Buzzaround, Dizzytone. For Muffs, the Fuzz War and Pharaoh. Fender Blender if you want to try another octave fuzz. Two op amp drives I like are the MXR Dist+ and Riot. I want to try the Univox Square Wave. Then there's the Nugget Fuzz here.

Yeah it's based on the Musket, but with some different resistor and capacitor values, along with, I think, germanium clipping in one of the stages. Do you have a schematic or know all the changes needed to make a Musket into a Blunderbuss?

The Megalith (Arkaim) is a heavy fuzz. What are the components for the Blunderbuss? I already have a Musket build.

That's a great sounding demo. Do you find the voltage starve trimpot they added useful, or would one be fine leaving it out?
