Some way to rig up 12v AC?

You have a 12v DC power adapter? I suspect that would still work.

What would I do with a germanium PNP with an hFE of 18??

The Tonebender Mk3 has always intrigued me. I'm considering the Antitheses Fuzz too; I'd planned to build the Si version.

What would I do with a germanium PNP with an hFE of 18??

OK, this is great, thank you. The guy I got them from years ago sent a message that the PNPs "should be good for..." [long-forgotten name of circuit.] I can't find his message. (I recall the NPN he he also sent was good for Rangemaster.) It looks like I can do the darlington trick with either...

Making sense of the 9 pin jack.

Cool man. Enjoy that sweet piezo sound. Reading that manual gave me a bit of FOMO.

What would I do with a germanium PNP with an hFE of 18??

I have 2, yes! Thank you. I will research how to wire a darlington pair. Gracias!

    MMBF5457’s and where they at?

RE: same recipe. Central uses the same recipe. They do occasional odd runs that sell out fast. If you get them from an authorized distributor like Mouser, they measure just like your early 2000 ones. (I've been testing a lot lately.) The ones from GPCB are the same fake Fairchilds you find on...

What would I do with a germanium PNP with an hFE of 18??

Oh wow. That Mystery Maschine does sound magical. I'm afraid I need to build one now. :)

Making sense of the 9 pin jack.

Oh, whoops, I assumed that 2 batteries meant it was an 18v system. My bad. In that case, Giovanni's advice above is correct. You only have 2 wires to connect, and they go straight to the preamp board.

Making sense of the 9 pin jack.

Two 9v batteries in series to get 18v. (Hopefully I'm getting at what you're asking.) Only one of these two connections needs to go to the ring to break the circuit when the jack is pulled, almost always the negative. In other words, the wire between the two batteries is always unbroken.

What would I do with a germanium PNP with an hFE of 18??

I forgot why I acquired these. Are they useful for anything with an hFE this low? (18 hFE, PNP germanium.)

BoomBoom, Eggsploder, Glitchee (Brassmaster, Scrambler, Guh'licky)

Man, the Glitchee is intriguing—if only for being a completely unique design. Interesting transformer on the BoomBoom. I haven't seen that brand. Is there an alternate transformer source you'd recommend?

    Octarock Octave (Foxrox Octron 3)

Stumbled upon a history of FoxRox. Inspiring!

SOLVED YET another Aion board question (Philosopher's Tone/Polyphemus)

I bought the TH-customs version of the board. Then I read Michael's build report (and demo) and lost interest in the project. The online schematics must have some error. There are suggestions in the thread for increasing the gain and reducing the grit but then it's just a giant mod project...

That stack of Crates behind him is hilarious. :)

    Octarock Octave (Foxrox Octron 3)

I tried to do the same sleuthing when my band started covering Little Sister, in the thread: Which pedal has five (5!) chicken head knobs? I think he’s being secretive in the video by stepping on a pedal not used in the song. 🤔 I later learned Josh is the king of leading followers down...

    Octarock Octave (Foxrox Octron 3)

That's a beautiful finished product. Nicely done. I dig the giant LED. Now, I hesitate to mention this since you've been chasing that sound for years, but I'd bet money that there's no octave effect on Little Sister. And I'd be willing to help flog the person who sent you down that path. The...

    Fancy Solder Sucker

I still spent 15 minutes remembering which box I put it in. :p (It was the box labeled "desoldering.")

    Fancy Solder Sucker

Followed your link. It's the same one I bought. But it's significantly cheaper now! I'd go for it. I just measured the bonus tube. In my mind, it was 6", but when I measured it, it was actually 2". I had that same issue with my penis once. We should do a group buy on the 16 foot hose...

    Fancy Solder Sucker

You almost never need to replace it until it gets all chewed up. It's heat resistant so it withstands a lot of use. I often take it off and clean it out with a toothpick when solder gets stuck in the silicone tube. And then I pop it right back on and keep using the same piece. The extra 6"...

    Soldering tip recommendations?

Yeah, I tend to agree for generalized advice; my experiences may be atypical, and I wouldn't lead a new user to a frustrating conical tip (if any beginners stumble upon this thread.) For years, I was happy with a big fat chisel. It delivers the heat everywhere at once and is good for...
