This Week on the Breadboard - ROG Britannia

Can anyone comment on the amount of gain this one has into a clean amp? I am getting plenty of bright and sparkly but only overdriven when gain dimed. All the jfets bias up right. Audio probing at the gain pot reveals a less than unity signal. Should it be boosted at this point?

Steggo's Take on the Harmonic Percolator! (Edit - Now With Albini Mod!)

Looks awesome, man! I've got the Percolator on NY short list and am interested to see what you think (original vs Albuni) once used through some amps. How was the graphic done? UV, waterslide?

    Lovetone Source Cheese

Unfortunately, also gives me the Cleveland Browns vibe. They've had my Bengals # for the last several games. Thanks! Yeah, I need to grab some ones that are the size of the lock washer that come with them. I have some from (b)LMS that I usually go with (yes, I am an anti whitw washer guy,) but...

    Lovetone Source Cheese

Finally got around to this one. Over at MBP years ago, Alanp made some layouts for lovetone projects (Rissole (meatball) was one of my faves This one was a clone of the lovetone cheese source. While the cheese lived up to its rep, there was something not quite right about the brown source...

DEMO Frantone Creampuff (vero) & Fornicus OD

Very cool! Out of curiosity what type of adhesive are you using for the materials?

    DEMO BYOC Stereo Analog Flanger

Woops! I'll get that edited quickly. Good catch!!

    Projectile Overdrive

A fairly easy build. Biased the jfets around 4.65 with the trims. The high control gets nasty when cranked along with the gain. Like that harsh octave clang kind of texture. I thought it might be a mishap on my part but I verified the same behavior through a bedroom videos youtube vid. Kind of a...

    DEMO BYOC Stereo Analog Flanger

Looks great!. Not sure if you read in the build notes or not but you can mismatch the v3207 and a mn3208 to get even more modulation madness. I think I read where one modulates at a higher octave. I haven't had the chance to switch back and forth on a stereo rig to determine whether it is...

    Pitch Witch

Graphics can be such a pain especially when you use the clear waterside and can't just cover it up. I had one recently that had a blemish and decided to go distressed look. Lemonade outta lemons! Looks like you nade yours work, regardless! I wasn't crazy about this graphic. I usually try to pay...

    Pitch Witch

I always dug the Pitch Pirate demos a bit more than it's cousin, the Clarinot, so finally got around to building one up. Nothing too crazy going on here build wise. I read on here at some point that the lcr0203 worked fine and I would agree. From my recollection of pt2399 delay (Deep Blue?) you...

    Fornicus LEDs

Regarding the LED I remember Brian posting this over at FSB: the f@ck is 3 jfet (2 j201, 1 2n5457) gain stages in series with the dual pot (gain) controlling the volume of the first 2. final 2n5089 is an emitter follower. SWTC for the high-cut control. the rest of the components are for an...

    DEMO Hyped Fuzz (Kowloon)

Looks great man! Been contemplating building one with low gain transistors more like the original superfuzz....maybe it wont matter? Killer band, too. (Kowloon Walled City.)

    Heterodyne question

So usually I use audio out from my computer in to pedal out to practice amp to test stuff out. It seems a combination of a shoddy ground patch cord in that loop and then noise from single coil guitar when I switch ed to it, kept the gate open. Switched to humbucker and no problem. No tick in sub...

    Heterodyne question

Thanks for all the info. That is exactly what mine does on the sub mode. I must have a problem somewhere along the 4069 as it sounds like you all dont have it motorboating on square. I will experiment with voltages to see if I can't nix the sub clicking. Will follow up with findings. Thanks again!

    Heterodyne question

Does it gate like the uglyface does when it is not being fed a signal? Mine is not gating and has motorboat/oscillator thing going on with only square and vol turned up. Pretty annoying! SUB does as well but more chirpy instead of full on. Thanks!

VFE Merman - Oscillation (?) motorboating at higher gain

Gotcha. Will take your word for it! I was mistaken about the choral reef. It and the old school benefit from the sps smt due to the ability to provide the higher voltages allowing for more clean headroom, however, you can do the same on the originals by using a 15v power supply. Alpha Dog and...

VFE Merman - Oscillation (?) motorboating at higher gain

Havent seen one in the wild but would imagine it would be in the latest revision of the choral reef if it was (apparently it had issues with the smt sps) I have wanted to build one of those after the latest version used two parallel delay lines. Wish there was a demo of it.

VFE Merman - Oscillation (?) motorboating at higher gain

I don't think so. The one above is like the original side mount boards. The SMD is an inductor based design. Either will work, technically, but they are different designs. SMD is inductor based to create the separate +/- voltages while the other two use a voltage inverter IC (7662)
