Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

https://stompboxparts.com/pots/9mm-snap-in-potentiometer-long-knurled-shaft/ That's the part, but you would need my XLR daughter board to mount it. The prefabbed units use a completely different PCB.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Check R4, the 1k CLR resistor next to the left tube board. Make sure it's a 1k and not something higher. Also check the solder joints on the pins and on the connections of the board itself.

C2C Electronics - Tayda Drill Templates

Exactly this. I don't have anything in gloss layers in my files.

    Ampeg Sub-Blaster - Non-inverting or Inverting?

Looks like you have a non-inverting stage, two inverting stages, and a non-inverting output buffer. Looks like non-inverting to me.

    What is this diode?

    Asking the real questions.

Oh yeah, I made that thing.

Monoprice Stage Right 15W amp rebuild

Lightning just uses 12AX7 in the preamp, but I have a nice British Mullard EF86 in my DC30 that sounds magical. And yup, these are really re-badged Laney Cubs, with the 15W being the Cub 12 and the 5W being the Cub 8.

C2C BassDude (Fender 5B6 Tweed Bassman Preamp)

No arguments here. The only real difference if you ignore the XLR output is that the "amp output" of Tungsten actually comes from the non-inverted output of the phase inverter, so you're getting an extra output buffer stage on the end. The main reason this could be important is if you're...

    Bring out yer Diptrace

That is an ESP32 module, but I'm not using the wireless functions of it so I'm not super worried. I had originally planned to use the non-wireless QFN package, but for some reason the module is less expensive, so I wanted to save a few bucks on a proof-of-concept prototype. Technically I'm still...

    Nobelium

Looks great! 12V 1A is going to be a better option than 9V 500mA, but obviously if you're not using the 1/4" output then removing V2 is also an option.

Firebox - tube power amp emulator

This project was shelved. It's one of the many that I tell myself I'll pick back up at a later date, but I don't have specific plans for it at the moment.

    Dazatronyx ТРАНЗИСТОР

Looks fabulous, I've always loved his layouts. I've followed Dazatronyx for years, he's definitely one that I consider to be in the "functional art" category.

    Bring out yer Diptrace

I've been working on a new tube tester design and wanted to start with a simplified version as a proof-of-concept. This is the simplified version. Took longer than I care to admit to lay out and route.

What amplifiers do you like for testing how a pedal design/modification sounds?

Champ has never been my #1 amp (I'm an EL84 kind of guy) but I've always liked having one around because it's not hard to make it sound good and it provides a very representative tone of what you can expect from bigger amps as far as how it takes pedals.

What amplifiers do you like for testing how a pedal design/modification sounds?

Completely depends on the pedal. If I'm testing something like a boost or a drive I need to know how it's going to sound through a tube amp, so I typically run it through something common like a Champ or something "pedal-friendly" like a Lightning (clones only, I can't afford real Matchless)...

How do YOU clean your boards?

I use water-soluble flux so I can wash my boards with water.

Mono, definitely going to stick some tubes in it and see what happens.

    Bean LA2A optical limiter

My secret is cutting out guitar time, cutting out sleep, and then bringing my kids into the workshop and giving them odd jobs so not only do I have more time to build, but pedal time is also family time.

    What's on the workbench?

*adds extra pads in parallel with C10 so another capacitor can be added to increase value* *piggybacks a capacitor on top of C10 just for fun*
