Are there many JHS stompboxes based on other circuits from the diy community ?

Idk if I’d call the pantheon a PoT ripoff… more changes from PoT to Pantheon than from BB to PoT, (the way the high-gain switch works, type of diodes, the bass control circuit, the op amp boost at the end). They had a blog post when it came out explaining where it fit among different BB types...

Are there many JHS stompboxes based on other circuits from the diy community ?

I’ll push back on that just a bit, plenty of boutique-turned-big companies like Wampler, EQD, Walrus, do a number of original circuits, and I think are more above board about where there ‘inspired’ circuits come from. I’ll agree it’s not isolated to JHS, but I think it’s a fair critique with...

    Magnetron Delay single repeat

All those points have a resistance path to ground that should read when the pedal is un-powered. (0~100kohm, depending on pot position). Maybe you have a bad pot? Or damaged solder pads? I'd use the continuity (beep) setting on the multi-meter to make sure pot pins are connecting to the...

    Magnetron Delay single repeat

Ah series resistance, not rectangle! Just measure resistance from pin2 to C3(-), should be around 11k. The resistance to ground at those points you measure would depend on feedback pot position (the resistance between pin2 and gnd). You measured 38M? It should never be more than 100k (pot all...

    Magnetron Delay single repeat

The photo that shows clearance with the pcb avtuallylooks like there’s something out of focus bridging (could be the angle of the phot though), and I know you already tested with plastic barrier. It seems like somewhere in the feedback path is shorting to gnd. (That would also help explain the...

    Kliche mods...

I don’t know from the picture which row is which (maybe I could tell if I look real close). I’d suggest follows the connection traces from the pot pins to surrounding components, and match it up the the schematic. You can do this visually just by looking at the pcb traces, or use a multimeter...

+/-6V power - check my circuit!

I didn’t remove anything from the rockman boards, I fired it up a few times with a simple one-spot wall watt without issue, and now it’s in the mail… so I hope it continues to work, but thanks for the heads up, I’ll let them know to reach out to me if they have any issues.

+/-6V power - check my circuit!

Got the boards from Amazon, and it worked perfectly according to the diagram @Cybercow shared (thanks!). I used a little jb weld to fix the boards in the housing and tied the wires into the connections in the battery spring board. I also sprayed a little contact cleaner in the switches, which...

Need A Bass Compressor and Envelope Filter

Boneyard Delegate (improved eqd warden) would probably be a great choice for bass comp. Ovnilab blog rates the warden highly for bass.

Need A Bass Compressor and Envelope Filter

I made a couple Snow White Auto Wahs from the Fuzzdog pcb, with a toggle for guitar (standard) and bass (different frequency of the sweep). It works well I think, and you can still use the guitar mode for a different sound on bass. Not sure how the mod compares to the official mad professor...

+/-6V power - check my circuit!

Thanks!! This is exactly why I asked here, thanks for the write up! Awesome looking builds!

+/-6V power - check my circuit!

I’m planning to mod a rockman bass headphone amp to accept typical 9v power (the guy lost the original special +/-6V power adapter, and he lost the battery cover so batteries aren’t an easy solution). I drew up a circuit for converting the 9VDC to +6V/0V/-6V DC for the rockman. Anyone see any...

    Dyna red Distortion

For me this is a great medium rock drive, especially pushed by a Klon type circuit for just a little more heat and mids, but it’s great on its own also. 2 Mods: 1. 50kA on the tone pot makes it much better sweep. Volume could stand to be log pot also, but I didn’t change it. 2. I put a 3way...

Two Sticks of Derm Fuzz gain control

Good thought, but R4 and R8 are already being bypassed by C3 and C6. So you could introduce a pot between C3 and ground, or C6, or both. Or put like a volume pot on the input, not sure if that would work well with this circuit.

Tayda shapes drilling for slide pot?

I haven’t, let us know if it goes through! To follow up on the thread, I’ve had a few successful projects with the hole/line combo method discussed above

    EQ Shootout

Just curious, are you saying the box and all changes/enhances your tone even with eq knobs at noon? Or just that it feels more like an enhancer than a precision eq because there’s fewer knobs? I’ve made a 6-band, and have the box and all pcb, just haven’t been motivated by that one yet.

    Pedalpcb Headphone Amp

Built went smoothly, plenty loud, and the phase switch is a nice feature. In my opinion, it needs the Unicab before it to sound good, and I prefer to add a little room type reverb. It sounds nice with my lighter drives, I wasn't too fond of it with high gain sounds though, but it could have...

    Arachnid - no dry signal

You can check the pot by resistance across 1-3 and 1-2 and 2-3 as you put the pot in different positions. It’s handy that youve already used the audio probe to track down the area. The R20 and R4 solder joints looks a little questionable, and you could see if there’s any short to ground or...

Can I use 2N5458 jfets instead of the J201 for a Chop Shop?

I would also recommend j201s (Pedalpcb has smd and little conversion pcbs). When jfets are used as buffers, subbing shouldn’t be a problem. When jfets are the gain / clipping structure, then subbing them with significantly different parts will have a big impact of overall gain and the circuits...
