    Suggestions for Phaser build

I have the Aion Doppelganger and Meatball boards as well and I think I'm officially far less excited to work on them after the comments I've read in a few places. With that said, I have recently finished soldering the Aion Redshift (Blackout Effectors Whetstone Phaser) and while I haven't boxed...

    Testing my Grab Box JFETs

Pulling together a couple of threads here for no particular reason other than I spent a bunch of time testing JFETs and felt like I should do something with that info. In the Small Bear Grab Box thread I mentioned that I got a bunch of JFETs and @bowanderror said that I probably made out better...

    HELP! PCB Layout Guidance

I haven't been able to find a copy of it, but evidently many moons ago R.G. Keen put out a book called PCB Layout For Musical Effects that I see referenced a lot. You used to be able to purchase it at Smallbear, but as far as I can tell it hasn't been available for years. Robert

Spirit box (eqd ghost echo) volume drop

Changing R4 to 18k should do the trick. Robert

    Spirit Box w/ Mods

Changing R4 to 18k improves unity volume and it's probably a good change to make. Changing R8 to 12k, and changing the Dwell pot to a B25K will drive the dwell into self oscillation. Doing that is honestly a waste of time unless weird noises are your thing :) Robert

    Spirit Box w/ Mods

I've seen quite a few people here use something similar. If you put the small end of the plug on the jack side (ie not like I did here because I was dumb) and snip a tiny bit of plastic off of the corners you can insert and remove the plug connection through the hole in the enclosure with no...

    Nostalgia

I grew up in Hawthorne. Of course in 1975 I wasn't shopping for electronics parts since I was just being born :) Robert

    My (tweakable) Drill/Punch Template

Glad it worked out. It fits pretty snug on my enclosures. If yours are a little smaller you could also change the enclosure dimensions a bit in the scad file (or use the customizer). I've been meaning to try and do one for a 1590B with top jacks based on the dimensions here, but I need to...

Bellum I, Unicab, Sea Monk, Phase II, Parentheses

Catching up on a backlog of builds over the past few months. Bellum I - I was really excited to build this after hearing the sample here. I didn't have any 2n5088s in the 350-370 range as noted, but I had 7 in the 410s so I went with those. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I haven't...

Hookup Wire #22 or #24. What is the right size for PedalPCB products.

I immediately had to start looking myself :) Here's a start: https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-pogo-pin-probe-clip.html I also found some 3d printable versions that I might just try out: https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=pogo+pin&type=things&sort=relevant Robert

TC1 (aka the Chinese tester) useless for measuring GE diode Vf?

I was checking the Vf of some D9E diodes that I had and the numbers I was getting were way off, so I checked them with my DMM and got something more reasonable. I started testing a bunch of different diodes and here's what I found: Component DMM (HT118A) TC1 Difference 3mm Red LED 1.76...

    SOLVED An anemic Seamonk

Argh, please hold. I just noticed R16 had a 390r in it and not 390K sigh. It's amateur hour over here. That was it. If you need me I'll be in my shame cube. Robert

    SOLVED An anemic Seamonk

After Chuck's recommendation I wanted to build a Seamonk. At first I thought it wasn't working at all, but it turns out that it is, but the volume is pretty low compared to the input, even with the level pot cranked all the way. I've done some probing and can find roughly where the level...

Questions for Cataclysm Tap Tempo Mod

Eek, sorry about that 😥 I have a 9v -> 2.1mm adapter that I reversed the wiring on that I test everything with before boxing just to make sure there's no funny noises. When I first started building pedals (which wasn't all that long ago) the first few always had some funny noises and I wasn't...

Questions for Cataclysm Tap Tempo Mod

Is the tick still there on battery power? I had ticking with mine when I was using a cheap power supply. Once I got a quality isolated power supply the problem went away. Robert

    Spirit Box w/ Mods

It seems like I was always one part short of finishing this one for months now. I did the fuzzdog mods changing R4 -> 18k, R8 -> 12k, and the Dwell pot to B25K . For me the dwell change is honestly probably useless, but there wasn't really a downside. One thing I did that might be helpful to...

Help Wanted Making a Tayda General Parts List

This was the reason I dumped the formula for doing the text abstraction and switched to AppScript. There's a lot more flexibility there at the cost of speed. It doesn't look like you can see the AppScript in the copy I shared, but it does stuff like this: /* Format Cap values to match Xuf...

Help Wanted Making a Tayda General Parts List

So I sorta did this already, but it's not in a state where I was really willing to share it yet. I took the AionFx spreadsheet you linked to in some other post a long time ago and started modifying it (a good amount). In retrospect I should have kept the parts list separate from the BOM...
