SOLVED Glory Hole - Gain Pot Kills Output

I’ll preface this by saying I’m an experienced builder, so have gone through the usual troubleshooting. When turning down the gain pot, the last 5% of rotation kills the volume. Also, at the lowest gain setting (before it kills the volume) it’s still pretty gritty, and goes up to really dirty at...

    Abyss build power issues

How about just jumpering the 1N5817 diode, and taking power directly from the + pad? The diode is not integral to the circuit - it’s just for reverse polarity protection. And I agree, plugging in a 12V power supply probably had no impact.

    Looking for something Bruuuutal

So here's my current "rig" - I've built pedals based on the Boogie Rec, and a Wampler Pinnacle (hotrod plexi/brown sound-based), so, those two into the Quilter Interblock 45, with a Mesa 1x12 cab. I have two distinct flavors of high gain, depending on what I'm playing. Am really happy with how...

    Looking for something Bruuuutal

I really did not like the Revv G4 - completely lacking... until I plugged it into the effects loop in my amp. Running it into the front of the amp allowed the amp's preamp do it's thing on the tone of the G4, and it sounded lame. Running through the loop is the way to go - the G4 is the...

    Abyss

The Throb control is subtle, but definitely adds some low end oomph when the vibe pulse peaks. If I keep the Intensity low for some sounds, I find that the Throb adds back some of the real "uni-vibe" feel back into the signal when it pulses.

    Looking for something Bruuuutal

While my Mesa Mark V:25 was a killer amp, with a ton of tones, it was just too much of an amp for my mainly home playing. The Boogie pedal gets me the hi gain tones I was looking for at any volume, but it's actually easy to dial in a "classic" metal tone (like Maiden) simply by dropping the...

    Looking for something Bruuuutal

The Boogie Monster is a Dual Rec-based circuit - https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/boogiemonster/. I've built it (on vero) and was blown away at how good it sounds. Really, I actually sold my Mesa head, and now just use this pedal with a Quilter Interblock 45 pedal amp.

    120nF Box Caps

Thanks. Will buy them elsewhere. Just built a Big Muff Triangle vero, which calls for 4 of them - no way i was going to fit four of these green monsters on my build. I actually managed to squeeze in pairs of tiny 100nF MLCC's and 22nF boxes in parallel - they all came in very close to 120. Looks...

    120nF Box Caps

Tayda has been out of 120nF box caps for a while now, and only have greenies. I don't mind using those, but anyone know what size they're shipping these days (not shown on the specs.) Last year I ordered 120nF greenies from them, and they were massive.

Dual Pedal - Cataclysm & Spirit Box

It's not shown, but the sleeves just get their standard wiring to ground. There's usually a couple of ground (-) points on either side of the LED on PedalPCB boards that you can wire the jack grounds to.

I saw your post (I'm assuming it was you :)) on the Facebook pedal builders page. My head was spinning at some of those responses!

Dual Pedal - Cataclysm & Spirit Box

Our friends at PedalPCB have you covered... https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/3pdt-order-switch/ :) I used one for a SHO Boost < > DumbBell OD pedal. Boost into OD (more gain on tap) or OD into Boost (OD is louder, but same gain).

Dual Pedal - Cataclysm & Spirit Box

Thanks! This is the third time I've built the Cataclysm pedal - it's a good one. I used a 1590XX enclosure - with the rigid PCB-mounted pots, the two boards wouldn't fit in a 1590BB - the PCBs would have been too close to the switches. I love the sound of these two pedals, but if you're...

Dual Pedal - Cataclysm & Spirit Box

Been a while since I've posted anything here... Built as a request for someone - a delay/reverb dual pedal. Should have been a no-brainer, but two things got me - one bad TL072 (and of course, I decided to not socket them this time!) and an issue with one of the 3PDT boards (probably "operator...

First reverb.com pedal defect had to happen...

Sorry to hear that. I found that when I went from building for myself, to building to sell, all the fun went out the door. It had the potential to become too stressful. Something not right on my own pedal... open it up, make it right, plug in, and have more fun. If something is not right on...
