Do it anyway, duder! Assemble everything as 4 circuit blocks and a power section, and then see how you want to put it together.

    Modded Animals Pedals Major Overdrive

Question: I've breadboarded the Old Fashioned/Major OD and had A LOT of self-inflicted wounds. It only ever fired up after 6 reworks. Anyway, about the Gain pot-- Is it as wide ranging as the Diamond Peak (light-light overdrive to almost fuzz with all dials maxed) or is it more subtle? Just...

Hahaha that's a good metaphor for my life. I do like Blade Runner, but who doesn't?

The dude in the video? He knows his stuff, has obviously planned it out, and is using a jig/third hand to position components accurately. All good practice, but not strictly necessary to make a functional circuit. I have minimal competence/just wade in there and figure out on the fly/hold and...

    OK Doomer/NOTADOOMER/Gouge PtP

I say all that to encourage anybody who is curious to jump in and give it a try. It's different, but very gratifying. I tried to make a little tutorial in my post on my Corroder build, but I'm also very happy to share advice and learnings to anybody who is interested. [Edit: My think-along on...

Thanks folks! I am actually not very skilled. Check out some of the PTP pedals on Reddit. So clean it makes me want to barf. [Good example, just look at the wiring on any @Erik S build report. So clean it's dirty]. I mean, I just have my own aesthetic, yeah...

PtP Teddy Rupture / Fuzzly Bear / Bosstone

You apply flux to your joint surfaces before solder, right? If not, that really really helps. If so, maybe try a tad more, or maybe just a smidge more time with the iron will have the solder flow. Do tell--what's your candidates?

PtP Teddy Rupture / Fuzzly Bear / Bosstone

How did I miss this?? It looks pretty boss! I really like those curved lines and the choices you made for locating elements (clipping diodes, for example). I might steal some ideas... Looking forward to the next one!

A while back I breadboarded this and was thinking of dropping it from the build list. Gain, gain, gain, fuzz, fuzz, fuzz, blah, blah, blah. Seen it, done it, got the Conan shirt. Then it came up in rotation and I breadboarded it again, since I had all the parts. Boy, I'm glad I did. This is...

Hahaha... Sure, but I would like you to make you a pedal even better. It's much more gratifying. PTP is a good thing to do!

Hey Hamish! Currently breadboarding the Major/Old Fashioned and auditioning transistors. Stay tuned!

    OG Muffin board schematic?

Trying to build up a BlueBeard on an old Muffin board, but I can't find the unrevised schematic (pre-tone bypass). Anybody know where I can find it? I could suss it out with continuity tracing, but I'm trying to take the lazy way. Nevermind, found it via google...

    Hydra delay - no signal

Could use a clean with a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol. I also was wondering with ErikS about that slashy looking line, and make sure there are no solder bridges between pads. Have you tried each "head" switch? And dimed the knobs? And ensured that the cables are going into the right...

    Figbuster PTP

Merci M. Chat! Here's some thoughts: this circuit is very tuned for guitar, although it did sound pretty good with my baritone. I'm pretty sure I implemented it correctly, minus maybe some old-ass component tolerances (thanks again, @jwin615 ! See, I told you I'd put things to good use!) One...

    Figbuster PTP

Well, I'm recovering from minor surgery and high on opioids (prescription!) so maybe it's messing with my procedural logic and aesthetics. Lots of good things already written about the figbuster/cluster fuzz/moonn f(x)=fuzzyness2 and I've reported on the latter's differences. This is just a...

    Way Huge Jehu Drive

Speedo has always played solid rock parts on a Les Paul (some augured out), but I think Rick has had more varied guitars. Like a funky teisco or some such-- whatever it is, he always chooses similar trebly stuff for the angular playing he does. [Edit: Rick might be the consistent one: Harmony...

    Way Huge Jehu Drive

Seen all three! Dig all three! Lucky me, I guess. I was about to note the lack of pedals thing. I think their sound is all guitar, 'tudes, and ferocious attack. I do love me some sweaty Hawaiian shirted San Diegans, and screamy skinny guys with weird guitars. Long live the Shamu rockers...

DBA Germanium Filter Boneyard Mods PTP

This pedal is really a bit odd. Half the time I'm not sure I like it, but then I consistently manage to come up with some pretty good parts! Anyway, the pedal really rewards a varied touch in the 10:00 to 12:00 position [edit: of the gain knob. How vague!]. You can caveman it if you want...

    Byrdhouse/JangleBox Question

I still use transistor sockets. The annoyance of desoldering outweighs the potential need to reseat a transistor for me. And I've never really noticed any particular excessive noise. Now if I was touring and throwing pedals around all day, that would be a different story.
