It’s not really what you asked, but I recently swapped out the LED/LDR combo in mine for VTL54C’s and I like the result a lot more - compression seems more noticeable, but still pretty subtle. This change has been described by a few others here, and might be worth considering.

One thing you may want to check is that the ends of C15 or C16 isn’t grounding on the bottom of the pot. These pots have metal on the bottom that goes to ground, so if the legs are a bit long signal could go to ground.

You are biasing with the selector switched for the transistors in use, right? The non selected transistors will show +/- 9V and not be affected by the trimmer. As to the noise, I also notice some noise on mine, but only when volume and gain are at max.

For using the expresso with your HX One, did you use a TS cable or modify your cable to do TRS to TS? My memory is that Line6 likes TS for expression. I have an expresso in my queue and an HX One, so this is timely!

When looking for shorts to ground, yes you're basically just trying to see if there are places that should have non-zero voltage, but show as 0 when you measure one of the legs to ground with you DMM. I mostly pointed out the transistors in the electrovibe because there are a lot of them, and...

I finished my full size electrovibe recently and also didn’t have any effect at first, just clean. I’d suggest measuring the voltages on your transistors, that’s how I found a short to ground. That was on the dual pot, which shouldn’t be your problem here but I find that helpful in trying to...

Perhaps some voltage measurements for the transistors would be helpful. I’d also check for continuity between the transistor legs and the parts of the circuit they connect to.

This is what I do too! You can make it easier as well by doing it in stages if there’s lots of pots, a bunch of switches or a rotary switch. Generally I like to get the PCB precariously placed then keep it in place with some blutac Edit for on topic discussion - lately I’ve been getting...

Well, incase anyone comes looking at this thread ever - this was because I had mixed up my transistors after building the General Tso and my BC549's and BC557's somehow ended up in the same bag. This doesn't work with a BC549, but got just about 6V when I put in the correct transistor, sigh

How did you measure the pot? Lug 1 and 3? Does the resistance change if you measure from lug 3 to the others? Did you measure and confirm the width ther resistors and capacitors in the tone stack?

Yeah... this pedal again... The main issue (so far) is that I have no voltage at TP1. I saw the other posts about R15, so I had removed the 1k5 I had and put in a 10R trim pot so that I could adjust to accommodate for head dissipation (I did also add heat sinks) - although I don't have to worry...

To pile on with experiences, recently got an order from Tayda, about 150 for the parts and 50 for shipping a it did some really quickly though. Certainly has me trying to get more parts from US vendors, but sometimes Tayda is the only source I could find some things and the drilling/UV printing...

Good insight! I just pulled out R15 after seeing these threads. My thought is to add a 10 ohm trim pot, either on the board if I can make it fit or on a strip board so that I can play with the resistance and not burn the board up with changing resistor values.

Hey everyone, I moved computers and was looking to install SpinCAD designer. I cloned the git repo, but I can't seem to find the .jar file (even when searching for jar files in the git web interface). I feel like I must be blind and I'm missing something obvious - any help would be appreciated!
