    Pedalpcb Uber Drive

I'm all single-coil, all the time. And Fender amps. P90s are the closest I tread to humbuckers, though I keep hearing the siren call of FilterTrons trying to get some of my cash.

My Take on the MBP Phase 90 (nomnom)

It's black paint from a paint maker. One of these: https://a.co/d/05F5IxH1. I was shopping for black just yesterday and only saw the whole set on Amazon. I nabbed the one I've been using from my wife. I like it because it's glossier than Sharpie's black paint marker. I don't think I'll splash...

    Pedalpcb Uber Drive

I've been playing (with) guitar(s) since the '80s, and I've never played an SD-1. I guess I'll put an Uber in my cart. Thumbs up to the straight box caps; they're satisfying to see.

    Abyss/The Depths Build

I put this one together over the weekend. It might wind up in Troubleshooting, because of rampant LFO issues, but I've read some pointers from @Chuck D. Bones regarding capacitor swap outs and higher gain transistors I'll try first. That said, in the narrow range that it works properly, I'm...

    PedalPCB Lemonade Overdrive

He did you up. It looks magnificent. And nice choices on the knobs for proportion and color coordination.

You are obviously a man of taste and good-breeding.

    PedalPCB Derailer/Ethos TWE-1

Man, that's my aesthetic right there. It's coming off as seafoam-green on my screen, and if there's any better color, I haven't seen it yet. And the knob choices and toggle-bat covers assert, "Proudly Analog," to anyone who glances in that direction. Outstanding.

    Byrdhouse/JangleBox Question

Many thanks! My world tour consists of my garage and my bedroom, but I occasionally like to throw my gear around for old times' sake. Yeah, I lost a pad recently desoldering a DIP8 socket, and I was not pleased. I can see the merit in leaving the sockets.

    Byrdhouse/JangleBox Question

If I socket the IC too soon I might skip my obligatory ritual of hooking up a new build without any semiconductors in it and wondering briefly why it only works in bypass.

    Byrdhouse/JangleBox Question

Thank you. I thought something like that might be the case, but it's good to hear from folks with more knowledge.

    Byrdhouse/JangleBox Question

I did not know this, but it makes sense. I started habitually using sockets a long time ago when my soldering skills sucked, and have just always used them whenever I had the overhead clearance. I don't think I've ever burned a transistor up by overheating it, though, so I'll just start putting...

    Byrdhouse/JangleBox Question

I debated whether to ask this in General Questions or here, because it's mostly functioning just fine. I built this a while back. I'm not sure how much the guts pic will help, but I have a feeling there would be requests for it if I didn't include it. I expect a little noise from any...

    Mach 1 - First Build

Also better than my first build. Try it stacked after another overdrive. It makes 1+1=3 combinations pretty often.

By itself, I agree with your assessment of the Lightspeed 100 percent. ODs, in general and in my experience, are made or broken in their environments, e.g., the pickups feeding them and the amps they're feeding, and how free you are to crank those amps. That said, the Lightspeed shines for me...

My Take on the MBP Phase 90 (nomnom)

Thanks to you both for the kind words. I've had an '80s DM-2 since the early '90s. I'm going to have to open it now and take a look... or maybe I shouldn't. Hopefully your girlfriend's OCD is as manageable as mine. Mine leans heavily toward the O side, meaning that it's not obvious to those...

My Take on the MBP Phase 90 (nomnom)

Aesthetically, it's hard to beat a 1590B. This one is a Love My Switches CNC Pro. I'm not CNC-equipped, but I dig the rounded edges on their box. It's my current favorite enclosure, and I look for boards that fit. Apologies to Fairfield Circuitry for jocking their style. It's quick to mimic...

    Phase 90 (MBP Nom Nom)

Thanks, that soothes my FOMO. I matched the 2N5952's myself, and they're extremely tight. I don't know if that's the main factor or not, but the resulting pedal has the most pronounced phasing of any analog phaser I've heard in person. Of course, I've never done QA for MXR or worked in a music...

I just wrapped one with 2N5952's last week. What am I missing out on?

    Anybody Use A Small T-Square?

I use an even smaller version to layout most everything on 125Bs and 1590Bs. A T-ruler and dividers account for most of my layout process, but digital calipers and dykem frequently contribute as well. I'm a fan of those Wen squares/rulers. They out-punch their weight class by a wide margin. I...
