I did the test. Yes, on the LED setting, if I have the volume rolled down and I strum a chord, when I hear the "gating" start to happen, I rolled the volume up and the sound comes back to what I would say is normal, then as it dissipates the gating starts again. It doesn't do this on the 1N4148...

Harbor Freight. On clearance sale a couple years ago. I know it's not the best but it's way better than the one I had before:) Plus I also picked up a TC1 not long after so I use that more for measuring.

Reversing the DMM's probes still doesn't give any reading on either LED. However, the bottom LED now lights up when I probe the top LED.

I tried measured the LEDs. Neither of them show any reading, but the bottom one lights up when I apply the DMM prongs. DMM is on diode setting and the screen doesn't change when the DMM prongs are touching the LED leads.

I have several times. But at some point I decided I'd rather pay Tayda to do it than myself.

To check that I would use my DMM, checking LED pads the bottom of the PCB? And this is a high voltage circuit so I would need to be careful not to touch anything that would electrocute me, right?
