What would I do with a germanium PNP with an hFE of 18??

Here you go. Beta (hfe) and leakage multiply in this arrangement, so you can get really high gain!

What would I do with a germanium PNP with an hFE of 18??

Do you have two? Leakage is usually low on these low-gain PNPs, so they make great Darlington pairs for a Rangemaster!

    Dark Theme?

This is great, major QOL upgrade!

Nontransparent Booster pedal for Strat and Tele

I really like simple, transistor based boosts for this kind of thing. A Rangemaster, or an LPB-1, or an Electra if you want a little more grit.

(Not Another) Propolis Volume Pot Thread

It's easy to attach some leads and run them to a pot, if you like!

(Not Another) Propolis Volume Pot Thread

Yes, but make it a trimpot to keep with the no-knobber spirit of the design.

    1uf Non-Electrolytic - What To Use?

Dirt boxes use such low current, and rely on fucking the signal up anyway, so choose components based on size and aesthetic.

    Soldering tip recommendations?

I use a pencil tip for everything to do with PCB/vero builds. Hakko. For larger things, like TS plug ground wires, case grounds, turrets, etc I use a larger one as appropriate.

    Swollen Pickle Too Loud

It be that way. It's the least-useable pedal I've ever had stock. As Robert suggested, log taper pot is the way to go.

    1uf Non-Electrolytic - What To Use?

Same here. I go for the most compact parts possible, so I'm regularly subbing film for MLCC and electrolytic for tantalum.

    1uf Non-Electrolytic - What To Use?

I have a big bag of probably-Chinese 1uf MLCCs that are awesome. Teeny tiny, great tolerances so far. Amazon

    Powering pedals with coin cells

Already have the board, actually! 3x10 vero build I found online. I ordered some coin cells on Amazon, and I'm working on some sort of 3 coin cell holder because those apparently do not exist. Need to find a way to make it easy to access, too - either that or have a way to check battery life...

    Powering pedals with coin cells

See title. I want to stick an Electra into my beater Mustang, to make it a better jam session guitar. It's a little too small and thin to route a battery compartment, so I am thinking of using coin cells. Any reason a low power use circuit like an Electra wouldn't work with 3 stacked coin cells...

    Component Values +/-

Electrolytic caps swing as much as 20%. I like to sort components for circuits that need matching ones, but other than that if it's within spec it goes on the board

Passive AB with 2 LEDs (or a bicolor) - how do YOU wire them?

No, the LEDs and switch connect to the power connector negative. A second, parallel lead from the power connector negative connects the sleeves.

In Search Of… (post the obscure parts you need help finding)

I am looking for a THAT4301, or detailed instructions (maybe with photos?) on how to use a different chip (THAT4305?) in the Muzzle. I really, really want to build this circuit. Anyone want to name some reliable ebay sellers of Ge transistors and diodes?

    Squidward

You can't go wrong with a Green Ringer variant. Next iteration will be a negative power one to cram in a large case with a Fuzz Face and Rangemaster. Basically a big germanium smorgasbord

    Squidward

Very simple. The only thing I'd change about the PCB is to add two small holes for standoffs, since it's just floating in the case otherwise. I wanted it to be a loud, very octavey boost for weedly weedly weeeeee solo time, so I used BC108s and a 2N5087. It's great! Really works well with fuzz...
