I just built the Conqueror too and love it. For those who have built both the Conqueror and Mystery Machine is it normal for the Conqueror to have more gain? Even with the distortion knob maxed on the MM the Conqueror still gets fuzzier.

When doing this mod is it possible to use a 3k-4k resistor to get the brightness I want or does the resistor have to be a higher value around 16k or more?
