    Transistor Sockets

Check, check, check, and check. Outrage bingo? Is there a prize? Pro-breadboarding, pro-sockets. Sockets have saved my sanity several times.

    Old Fashioned (Skreddy/Animals Major Overdrive)

Good to know. I find the bass control a bit mild in my breadboard of the Major OD, so no doubt I've made yet another error in the breadboard.

    Old Fashioned (Skreddy/Animals Major Overdrive)

Anyone find the tone controls in the Major/old fashioned more subtle than the diamond peak?

Animals Diamond Peak Boneyard mods PTP

So after I breadboarded the Major/old fashioned, I thought to myself, my diamond peak isn't anywhere as loud as this, and I went in to check the biasing. and then I was also looking at it thinking waaaait a minute, the Major had that last 1 nf cap going to ground from the output line, this one...

    Old Fashioned (Skreddy/Animals Major Overdrive)

I had a HELL of a time breadboarding this one (6 iterations). Couldn't remember how to do the circuitry inline of the power rail (the 5.2 and 6.8 K resistors & etc.), kept making wiring and other dumb mistakes. But after all that, I think Skreddy built a pretty bombproof circuit. The...

    OK Doomer/NOTADOOMER/Gouge PtP

Well, the easiest is to literally follow the schematic. You can see that on the OK Doomer above. and I make sure to think about what needs to see what first etc. Here it is for reference: You can get as creative as you want as long as you respect the connections, and keep in mind that...

    Modded Animals Pedals Major Overdrive

Well dang. Looks I have more breadboard dysfunction holes to fall into.

Do it anyway, duder! Assemble everything as 4 circuit blocks and a power section, and then see how you want to put it together.

    Modded Animals Pedals Major Overdrive

Question: I've breadboarded the Old Fashioned/Major OD and had A LOT of self-inflicted wounds. It only ever fired up after 6 reworks. Anyway, about the Gain pot-- Is it as wide ranging as the Diamond Peak (light-light overdrive to almost fuzz with all dials maxed) or is it more subtle? Just...

Hahaha that's a good metaphor for my life. I do like Blade Runner, but who doesn't?

    OK Doomer/NOTADOOMER/Gouge PtP

The dude in the video? He knows his stuff, has obviously planned it out, and is using a jig/third hand to position components accurately. All good practice, but not strictly necessary to make a functional circuit. I have minimal competence/just wade in there and figure out on the fly/hold and...

    OK Doomer/NOTADOOMER/Gouge PtP

I say all that to encourage anybody who is curious to jump in and give it a try. It's different, but very gratifying. I tried to make a little tutorial in my post on my Corroder build, but I'm also very happy to share advice and learnings to anybody who is interested. [Edit: My think-along on...

    OK Doomer/NOTADOOMER/Gouge PtP

Thanks folks! I am actually not very skilled. Check out some of the PTP pedals on Reddit. So clean it makes me want to barf. [Good example, just look at the wiring on any @Erik S build report. So clean it's dirty]. I mean, I just have my own aesthetic, yeah...

PtP Teddy Rupture / Fuzzly Bear / Bosstone

You apply flux to your joint surfaces before solder, right? If not, that really really helps. If so, maybe try a tad more, or maybe just a smidge more time with the iron will have the solder flow. Do tell--what's your candidates?

PtP Teddy Rupture / Fuzzly Bear / Bosstone

How did I miss this?? It looks pretty boss! I really like those curved lines and the choices you made for locating elements (clipping diodes, for example). I might steal some ideas... Looking forward to the next one!
