Conspiracy to Commit Electronics - Formal Intro

Great projects! Will the new stuff be available through Musikding like some of emtje sushibox projects?

    Carcass Fuzz

I'm enjoying mine greatly, I'll post the build report tomorrow

Is your build super loud? I just built one and I can't turn the output knob much past 11

    Chop Shop Calibration 12/15/22

Sag pot should be all the way counterclockwise, so at 0% And from what I read both JFETS should be biased around 6v, I biased mine at 6.5v

SOLVED Walrus Julia (PCBGM Julio) help!

I have two BL chips, I'll see if I can finally get to test the circuit with my audio probe

The noise when bypassed went away when in the chain but the hiss when the pedal was active did not

SOLVED Walrus Julia (PCBGM Julio) help!

Yeah I'm thinking of doing exactly this... I messaged Musikding to see if I can buy the PCB without the kit, if not I'll try to place an order from @PedalPCB. In the meantime I'll take it out again and try with an audio probe.

Thanks that's what I thought As you can hear the pedal sounds great but it's very noisy I tried changing the tl072 with a couple of tl022 but it's the same, redid most of the soldering and wiring... What could it be?

SOLVED Walrus Julia (PCBGM Julio) help!

Got rid of the switch again, and recorded this clip straight into my audio interface. Until 10-12 seconds clean signal (100% dry on the blend knob), then at 14 seconds you can hear the noise start as I turn it around 50-60% and you can hear the noise. At around 30 seconds you can hear the blend...

SOLVED Walrus Julia (PCBGM Julio) help!

Well, i boxed it, taking extra care with the wiring, and of course it's not working anymore. Probably something in the switch wiring or daughterboard, but anyway ticking is still present in bypass and the noise is still quite high. I'll probably bin the board and salvage what I can to build a...

SOLVED Walrus Julia (PCBGM Julio) help!

Since my Sea Horse build is missing 7 caps and I'm waiting for the delivery, I've been trying to get back into this disaster of a build Did a lot of reflowing, rewiring, and pot desoldering and resoldering. Removed the rate LED I think I managed to get the noise at an acceptable level. I'll...

SOLVED Chop shop popping when activated + squealing even in bypass

you know, that could actually be it. Lately my solid state Fender 85 started popping loudly when I turn it off... Tomorrow afternoon I'll try pluggin into my old practice amp. Damn work getting in the way of troubleshooting.

SOLVED Chop shop popping when activated + squealing even in bypass

Yeah the squealing is solved by rebiasing the JFETs. I think 6.5v is giving me more gain? I might be wrong here but at least the squealing is gone. I've managed to unsolder the 3pdt board, wired the footswitch directly and it still pops so it's not the board. I guess it's either a faulty...

SOLVED Chop shop popping when activated + squealing even in bypass

I finally had time to do some testing, without the switch. The squealing was definitely affected by the J201s, when moving the trim pots around. I had biased them at around 6v, following advice on here, but that made them squeal. I adjusted the bias at around 6.5v and the squealing has stopped...

how do i get more output from a bad monkey?

i had an original (sold it for $$$ during the height of the craze 😬) and unity volume was around 2/3 oclock depending on low gain, and at 12 on higher gain settings, if I remember correctly

SOLVED Chop shop popping when activated + squealing even in bypass

I'll take a look when I'm home from work... Do you know what values they should be? I got them in a kit from Musikding... I remember reading another thread here where the pedal squealing was solved by using SMD JFETS, I might have to give it a go with daughter boards.

SOLVED Chop shop popping when activated + squealing even in bypass

I soldered input and output directly on the PCB, but the squealing is still there... It only happens when either: SAG is maxed or nearly maxed, and GAIN is past 3, or GAIN is past 3 and SAG is past 12... So the culprit of the squealing is not the switch or his wiring...

SOLVED Chop shop popping when activated + squealing even in bypass

It's a 2N2222A, I think I have put it down with the correct pinout as I remember reading on the forum about the different layouts for the two different transistors good idea, I'll try this to see if it solves the squealing, if it does I'll replace the switch Kleins are expensive here I'll...

SOLVED Chop shop popping when activated + squealing even in bypass

Did it, no change unfortunately Going to try and swap it when I get the chance My shitty DMM doesn't have a continuity tester but tried it with resistor tester and looks like there is no continuity. I hope to solve the popping with a new 3pdt But the squealing isn't going away :(
