    Ungula

Beautiful! The cloth wrap is a really difficult practice, and you nailed it.

    Carbon Black with 2N3904s?

I just whipped one of these up on the breadboard! The 2N4123s worked a treat for this. MPSA42s also work just fine, similar gain range. Tried some higher gain transistors and like @Aleph Null says, it's a fuzzier time. Not a huge difference, but a difference nonetheless.

    What’s really good?

@HamishR Those longboards are super easy to roll around on. Board sizes and shapes have really come a long way since the Lords of Dogtown. Let this be the encouragement to get back on that board, think about how happy you could be!

    What's your nemesis circuit?

lectric-fx Dandy Horse. Built one on commission and used my fee to purchase 2 of everything. The first one (after WEEKS of troubleshooting) somehow got calibrated and working. Super interesting pedal but simply not worth the effort or the $200+ in parts, especially since I don't have an...

    What’s really good?

Whoa, this has really brightened my day. It's amazing how reading a bunch of feel good stories reminds me of all the positives in my life. I've been skateboarding pretty much every weekend for the last year or so, and I'm really happy with all the new tricks I'm learning and friends I've made...

    Thinner enclosures for easier drilling

Hammond enclosures really are the premium standard. They feel nice in the hand, they're light, super easy to drill. I haven't used them, but I imagine Gorva is at the same standard.

...And Now for Something Completely Different: The Autonomous Collective of Tone [King of Tone]

Lovely build. Looks like you really took the time to get this one right. Neat trick with the scuffed LEDs for diffusion, and big love for the Monty Python quote.

    Stock GE7 to XTS Version?

Here's the chart that I've been working off, with the info I picked up from this thread, and by comparing newer MIT boards with MIJ and older MIT boards. They revised the schematic a few years into Taiwan production, so the older ones still have 4 DIP-8 op amps and the MIJ referencing. The...

    EQ Anyone?

Hey, neat build! Your electro caps soldered to the rear, just an aesthetic choice? It looks super tidy.

    Tayda "Squareplugs" and other finds

The design is too ugly to share with the world in its current state. Once I knock up a few more I might share some photos of my 'means to an end' level of handy work.

    Tayda "Squareplugs" and other finds

Subscribe to the "back in stock" notifications and pray for an email. You never know. I've stumbled upon their bluetooth modules which work a treat. For a few pennies you can pick up a PCB standoff or two, a plastic jiffy box, a micro USB power cable, and a 3.5mm aux. I have one permanently...

    Stock GE7 to XTS Version?

I've modified a couple GE-7s using the values that @CR0SSBL4DE and @joelorigo posted (thank you gang, this has been very helpful), and I'm happy to report that I've tested it to work exactly as intended. XTS changed LOTS of parts from the original with some pretty specific values, but nothing...

    What's on the workbench?

Don't big ask, you don't big receive. And you can be big sure of that.

Has Anyone Seen This JFET Matching PCB Project?

This is super cool. I'm building a JFET phaser for the first time at the moment, so it's serendipitous that you've posted this here. I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work, but I'm certainly no expert. I'll order some PCBs and eventually get around to building them once they arrive.

    Lectric FC Dandy Horse help

It's just helpful to know that there are others experiencing similar problems on this build, and that they can get it going. I spent well over 20 hours over the last few months trying to make this thing work. It's a commission too, and there are only so many times I can apologise (and give...

    Lectric FC Dandy Horse help

Update! I went ahead and swapped the CD chips - turns out the supplier just lists datasheets from whoever. The new ones are also Texas Instruments. Silly, but it might have helped. I followed through the entire calibration process, despite the bias & cancel trimmers doing almost nothing audible...

    Lectric FC Dandy Horse help

I get stuck at the audio biasing section. Sounds like a gentle tremolo (or an artifact of the circuit not working properly) through an audio probe at TP3. No audible delay or significant hiss (as mentioned in the calibration guide). I've tuned for the least distortion at Bias2 & Bias1, but then...

    Lectric FC Dandy Horse help

Hey @jwyles90 @tsredman, I'm having trouble with this project too. Any chance you've figured out the secret sauce? The voltages around IC3 & IC4 aren't quite right on mine as well. Not a whole lot of useful modulation going on, despite my best efforts calibrating with a multimeter.

    DOD250-Based Telephone/Microphone Circuit

Hey thanks! Great forum, very welcoming. I hadn't thought about accommodating it for both signal types, great suggestion! I was hoping I'd be able to create a 'one size fits all' kind of circuit, perhaps that's a little optimistic. Testing both signal sources shows a decent (and expected) level...

    DOD250-Based Telephone/Microphone Circuit

Hey all, long-time lurker, first time poster. I've been building PPCB circuits for a few years now, and thought it was about time that I try my hand at designing a circuit start to finish. The circuit in question is based off the incredible DOD 250/MXR Dist+. I intend to build this into an old...
