I work on vehicles/large tractors all day then come home and work on my own projects lol.

GPS. The base station is an AgGPS 442 and the display is a FMX/FM 1000.

I'm having to learn how to set up a Tremble system for land leveling with a scraper tractor for ag work. I'm so used to working with John Deere's guidance systems that Tremble feels completely foreign to me lol.

It's really interesting how something as relatively niche as pedal building can bring people from all walks of life together.

I'm starting to feel like an oddball with my background lol.

I'm a mechanic and work on everything from small gasoline engines to diesel pickups to large farm machinery. I also do metal fabrication including welding, lathe work, and mill work. People always look at me funny when they find out that I like to build effects pedals and work on guitar amps lol.

Now I'm not sure if I want a full station or a pen :unsure:

$3.50 USD each doesn't seem too bad. I spent $20 for two sets of Fender Jazz Bass knobs for my King of Tone build and $3 each for some Neve/Marconi style wing knobs for a Hudson Broadcast build.

Definitely start with something simple, or you could do what I did and jump into this cluster f*#@ as your very first project. I couldn't even read a schematic when I started on this lol.

I'm still trying to decide what to build for my first DIY amp as there are quite a few solid choices to pick from. Something that I quickly realized is that most of the time building your own will NOT be cheaper than buying something ready to go so saving money shouldn't be the driving factor.

I bought a Yihua 939D+ back in May of 2021. In April of 2022 the soldering iron handpiece failed and started to overheat no matter what I had the base set to. I ordered a replacement handpiece and used it maybe a dozen times since April of 2022 until now and once again the handpiece has started...

My Black Eye turned out pretty good. The only issue I had was messing up the led trace on the buffer board because my soldering iron spazzed out and was running WAY hotter than what it was actually showing.
