when i'm polishing the face it really doesn't heat up at all. the sides are another story.

i use a large buffing wheel polisher with 14" wheels with multiple menzerna solid compounds.

that's correct. i also use the 4k7 led resistor holes to use as a jumper to have a shorter path for the +9V lead to the relay board.

i just do it since i test my pcbs first before mounting them in enclosures and it insures that i don't beak off a wire when doing it.

i used 2N3903's. All of mine were in the 117 to 121 range. IMO, to me it doesn't sound like Norman Greenbaum's tone very much (either with my Fender Telcaster or my gibson SG)
