    What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

I think I've read bad things about the Behringer unit, hopefully the second one is better. I assume it's a ton of SMD parts, so fixing the noise issue yourself is not really reasonable?

    Pedal/Tone hunt

I definitely agree with the tremolo, but there's no attack on the guitar so I suspect there's something else going on too. It kind of sounds like some sort of freeze effect to me, maybe? Or some kind of reverb that eats the attack.

    I never thought of this… lead exposure…

I've been using I think this one https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/kester-solder/24-9574-7618/3660017 for a while now, and been quite happy with it. I think for soldering it's fine, it's not really an issue. Desoldering can be a pain though, but even then I think it's better than other...

Josh Scott Signature JHS Relevator by BilT

Yeah the headstock is weird, but for whatever reason I just... don't care that much about headstocks in guitars in general? As long as they're not really ugly, and while this one is weird, it's more of a "meh" to me. The number of pickups is weird and probably a little unwieldy, but since I...

Josh Scott Signature JHS Relevator by BilT

Ehh I disagree, I've seen Betty post a bunch of useful information. I'll leave it at that so the assholes hopefully don't pile up on me. As for the guitar, I do think it might be cool (I'm a sucker for a lot of options - although it would probably be better with the control improvements...

    Haarp bypass

Make sure the in/out jacks hot terminals are not touching the enclosure walls so you're not sending (some) of the signal to ground. They're painted, yes, but it's best to be sure.

    Canis Distortion vs. Candid Drive

Well if you only build one how could you know which is better?

    What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Having seen the Warlow Mini issues over on reddit (I think some or even most of them just... don't work? and to fix it you could try to "plug the pedal into 18v for 30 minutes to charge the pedal", what the hell) I wouldn't buy anything directly from JPTR FX tbh. (more details if someone wants...

In which Eric Johnson sets me straight

Yeah, my understanding of this has always been that the classic "first in line" fuzzes have a very low input impedance, so they load the pickups of your guitar, which mellows down the frequency peaks (I forget the correct term), making it sound duller. But the fuzzes themselves are very bright...

    Available soon: Bodhizafa analog reverb

I'm interested in this. What impedance tanks can you use with it? It would be a bonus if I could use my existing tank (600 ohm input, 2250 ohm output impedance) with it, but it's probably not a dealbreaker. I am a little horrified about what shipping it to Europe might cost these days :F

    Substitution for 1N5817

You can also usually substitute a different schottky diode for it if you have other types, they might have somewhat different voltage drops so that is something to keep in mind, but it's usually not an issue as long as it's in the ballpark. But like others said, probably fine to just leave out too.

    YouTuber Waylon McPherson's EQ Ear

Frankly I would much rather watch non-clickbaity videos with low production values than clickbaity videos that are "playing the Youtube game" even if they had high production values. "Playing the game" feels like you need to be somewhat dishonest, and honesty is something that is in short supply...

    YouTuber Waylon McPherson's EQ Ear

Tbh the system where you can buy the schematic or get on his Patreon, or you can just watch the video and draw it up yourself, is pretty reasonable? I dunno, feels fine to me.

    YouTuber Waylon McPherson's EQ Ear

I haven't replicated any of the circuits, I've seen some videos, but maybe it's down to what amps you use/like and how you dial them in? That would be my first guess. As a related side note, stumbled into this video randomly , and man that's a lot of words just to avoid saying "It's essentially...

    New Pedal Releases

Tbh I got an accurate impression of that part pretty quickly. It does feel somewhat misleading to be worded like that though, to be fair, if you put a buffer in front of a digital delay isn't it technically "hybrid analog and digital delay"? Granted this thing does feel more analog than most...

    New Pedal Releases

To be honest, my first thought was "Which Hammertone pedal is this based on?", but that might not be totally fair.

    New Pedal Releases

I think that would be illegal. So obviously it's not something you put in writing on a public forum. (this a joke for legal and frankly any other reason, of course)

Cream Pie (Frantone Cream puff) build sounds very dark

Is this a troubleshooting thread or are you asking for modifications to fix it? So the tone control does something, but it's just too dark?

Circuits on AliExpress that are worth it

Oh wow, that was very cool. A comment mentioned maybe using an LFO for the clock too, but I'm not sure if that would just make it sound the same with every program. Maybe a momentary footswitch for the LFO would work even in that case, but then that's a lot of effort for just a momentary...

    Your current game play-through

If you run into issues with STS2, I would suggest watching a tier list video or something to help kick start it. Tier lists are not actually very useful when picking cards because it depends so much on your existing deck, but the discussion behind why some cards are good or bad helps a lot...
