    Any synth users out there?

All to justify my irrational anti-DAW stance 🤣 That’s awesome. Seems like it can be done more reasonably if you’re willing to give it some thought and maybe a little DIY. The couple folks I know who have done it went completely nuts, so my perspective is a little skewed. @mybud has posted...

    Any synth users out there?

Current state of affairs: Gear-wise I’m always the most interested in what I can scrounge up cheap and used. Eurorack is cool but the money is bonkers. If you can commit the space, 19” gear is a cool thing to get into cost wise. The only new thing I’ve had my eye on is the new little Akai...

Would Joe use them if they were fake??

Why does nobody use these outtie DC jacks?

I had a couple of those that had intermittent contact problems. The big innie jacks from Tayda are my preference. The contacts in the larger jacks (innie or outie) seem like a more robust design to me.

    Rosin Allergy?

It is really weird! That’s partly why it took me so long to accept it could be related to soldering. It’s been happening every winter (when I normally do all my soldering) since I started building pedals in 2023. RMI is an interesting thought, but I don’t think it fits. My technique is pretty...

    Rosin Allergy?

    A snug fit is important.

    Rosin Allergy?

Hmmm… not as cool as the fingerless ones.

    Rosin Allergy?

That’s interesting. The threshold piece definitely makes sense. I started reacting to sawdust ten years ago after I got heavy into woodworking for a while. Unfortunately I have a history of getting obsessed with a hobby then overdosing on it and having some negative health consequence.

    Rosin Allergy?

Thanks for commenting. If the glove method isn't totally successful I'll definitely look into some 'roids!

    Rosin Allergy?

I've had recurring skin and joint problems with my right hand for a while. If I don't solder anything for a month it clears up, and as soon as I do some soldering it comes back. I've repeated this process enough times to be pretty confident about the correlation, and rosin exposure to the hand I...

    Woodpecker q3 not oscillating

I had the same experience with the 2n6027 in my woodpecker. I forget if I got my first one from eBay or amazon, but it passed sound and didn’t oscillate like you’re describing. Replaced it with one from Mouser and all was well. Good luck!

    Moonshot LDR

Like Betty I've had good luck tweaking LDR orientations and gaps to dial in some tremolos. Just make sure you solder them floating up off the board a bit so you can bend to adjust without having to desolder anything.

    Ocelot octave problem

Looks like all your ICs are in upside down to me.

Cannon Fodder (Caroline Wave Cannon) Build

The washer under the LED bezel is nice touch. I don’t think I’ve seen that before. I might borrow that. 14 inch buffing wheels must make pretty quick work of that polish job. How often do you have to dunk the enclosure to keep from burning your hands?

Real world lever toggle switch durability

I buy the cheap stuff from Tayda and I haven’t had any failures yet. I know people get excited about fancy footswitches that are rated for more cycles than the cheap ones, and I guess I can understand that, but I would think toggles experience way fewer cycles and would be even less of a concern.

    Pyrite Fuzz

Why you putting dykem on your enclosures? I remove dykem with dykem remover! Mostly acetone and a little overpriced, but very convenient for dispensing small amounts which is nice for not stinking up the whole shop.

    Handpainted enclosure inspiration

I’m not a pedal artist, but I label my controls with posca markers. The flow and opacity is great, but durability is definitely super low. I always hit them with a layer of rattle can clear coat.
