Can you fix lead exposure? AFAIK no amount of lead is safre for humans. I wash my hands all the time when soldering - before, after major batches of joints, and after using the tools. I think it's time to try lead-free solder but I know I'll be disappointed.

Unfortunately I don't think John Lurie will ever perform again. He recorded a couple of albums under the pseudonym Marvin Pontiac, also very good, on guitar and harmonica but his Lyme disease keeps him from playing sax. He paints all the time now and I love his art too.

IIRC this circuit makes noise whe youn turn the knob, and there's hiss that can be tamed by increasing the cap to ground at the input. 10n shoudl do it. Mine is not noisy but it's basically a worse Fuzz Face.

I have never used a flux pen. A good iron with a freshly tinned tip works every time for me. I started out with a crappy iron that would take 5 minutes to get to temp and would cool down after every joint and I botched a lot of joints. Getting a better iron has been a game changer
