    Awful Waffle

Pretty straightforward build, but I have a knack for finding ways to screw things up that exist outside the standard deviations. That said, I can not emphasis enough to avoid the generic innie DC jacks from Tayda. Just don't do it. I am going to use a different DC jack, so disregard the lack...

SOLVED Awful Waffle Drive Effects Tone

Never mind. With the circuit outside the enclosure it has no issues. I'll update when I discover the culprit.

SOLVED Awful Waffle Drive Effects Tone

As I turn the drive past 3 o'clock, the drive increases but the control acts like a low pass filter. All the way open tone is muffled and bassy. I've checked all resistor values and cap values. Everything checks out. Thoughts?

    Electrovibe capacitors

Guvernator - More Cowbell! No, I mean more Bass

Yeah, I always drop the r . Don't ask me why as it continuely screws my searches up. Thanks for the info, will be building another GuveRnator in the near future. I'll give these mods a go.

The best price I can find currently is $267. The MSRP is $320. Lol, they can ask what they want but my money won't be going into those pockets anytime soon. Not to go off on a tangent, but frankly I'm getting a little more than fed up with the rampant gouging everywhere you turn. The...

I have a TC Hall of Fame II and Strymon Cloudburst for my reverb needs. But duely noted.

I have heard comparisons between the two and think both bring something pretty good. For now and foreseeable future, Greenback will be fine. If the Blue were a lot less expensive, I would consider trying them. But they are wayyyyy beyond my budget.

I have a HB semi-hollow Tele style with P90's. Doing some work on it but will be pushing it through soon enough.

Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

Listening to water and occasional wake slap up against the boat dock while I watch my grandsons fish.

I built a Mission Amps 5E3 years ago and that has been my only amp over the last several years. The Vox checks all the boxes for me. My Strat into the normal channel is perfect. Anxious to see how my army of pedals works with it.

I was contemplating Fender 65 Princeton Reverb reissue. Then PRS dropped the DGT15. I was intrigued. But the Fender was too rich for my wallet and the DGT15 was head only. Then I stumbled across the Box AC15C1. Price was right, check. Chimes, check. Great overdriven tone, check. So I bought...

    Guvenator V.2

This is my second build of the Guvenator. I had an issue with the small enclosure format so I changed that which required taking the pots off board. Now the control labels are easier to read and is laid out like a Marshall panel. I decided to do a little relicing on the enclosure, just to...

SOLVED Abyss - Random explosive static

I replaced all the nF caps with box film caps. I detox'd the IC socket and worked the IC in and out several times. Now it runs noise free! Most likely it was the socket. But having the box film installed likely didn't hurt either. Thank you for the help!

A friend came around with a 1965 Fender Princeton Reverb today...

I've played a 79 Princeton reverb. Magical. The owner is moving out of state and was trying to decide if he should sell his Deluxe Reverb RI or the Princeton. I just looked at him like he was from another planet. I had a 79 Vibrolux Reverb that I sold off earlier this year. I hated getting rid...

SOLVED Abyss - Random explosive static

I used MLCC's rather than box film caps. I also used cheap electrolytics. I have ordered a small inventory of quality component. I have already pulled those pieces out. They cheap MLCC's I used were wildly out of spec, at least the ones I've measured. Anymore I'll measure each component before...

    Chasing Tayda Powedercoated Screw Holes

It seems with each Tayda powdercoated enclosure there is one hole that is gummed up with excess powerdercoating. The thread pitch on these holes is M3 x .75. Naturally that is the ONE tap I am missing, but I suspect not having the one tool you need is a universal struggle. Hope this is helpful!

Anyone Else Diggin' the New "Fallout" Series on Amazon Prime?

Haven't had any exposure to the game, so coming at this series from out of the cold. I enjoyed it immensely. The sets, costumes, color palette, dialogue and acting are top notch. I don't know that I've ever been disappointed with Walton Higgins. He picks good projects and disks in a great...
