That gold top got converted. It's now a P90 neck, Humbucker bridge. I have a Planet Tone P90 and a Wolftone Dr. Vintage in the bridge.

This is yet another obscure circuit that didn't get as much love as it should have. @szukalski is naming all his overdrives based on the year it was released. So this one came out in 1987. The original had a couple of extra IC's. One was for Yamaha's switching schema, which has been dropped...

So back to older, obscure circuits, which I usually LOVE more than the "homogenized" sound of newer circuits, this is the Ibanez CD5 Distortion from their brief toy-like "Soundtank" series. Some of which were actually pretty cool circuits. The Cyborg is definitely one of the cool ones...

I just built this circuit on @szukalski 's "Tunbridge" board that he ginned up for @HamishR. What's hilarious is that Dave had already made a version of this board called the "Cladair". (Check post #15 of this thread) I think we're whipping poor Dave too hard, he's cranking out PCB layouts...

You should try the Anvil Fuzz (MojoHandFX Iron Bell). It's marketed as a "Gilmour in a box" but I'm not getting that. But still it's a neat Muff variation.

Congrats on getting it done! The Zen drive is one of the lowest parts count builds out there. But at its heart it's still a Tubescreamer, albeit with a variation on the clipping. There's not much you can do about the noise floor. It's inherent in the circuit. Some overdrives are just like that...

Have you tried the Modus Operandi? (Jackson Audio Amp Mode). It's been my longtime favorite. Extremely well voiced SHO variant for guitar. At unity gain it just makes everything after it sound better. Bump up the gain to drive another pedal or an amp. And here's another interesting one from...
