Harmonic Percolator - Suggestions On Choosing A Version?

Undefeated trick for way heavy fuzz with an HP is a buffer or *very* slight boost in front. Albini tone chasers steer clear.

    Low Gain Silicon Transistors

I'd say I'm always surprised at the Hfe ranges that sound good to my ears when I'm socketing transistors, even in circuits that are more dependent on variations. Honestly, it's such a fun thing about pedal building to me.

    Low Gain Silicon Transistors

    Here's some more part numbers that are binned by Hfe, ranges pulled from datasheets. last letter here is the bin - 2SC1815-O 70-140 - S9013-D 64-91 - S8050-B 64-91 - 2SA1020-O 70-140 - 2SC1384-Q 85-170 - KTC3202-O 70-140 - A44-A 80-100 - A42-A 80-100 - 2SC945R 80-100

    Low Gain Silicon Transistors

I checked and it is the yellow КТ315И (sometimes has the suffix “D” in latin). Mine measure from 50-80. The J suffix (orange) measure around 140. Also in my bins are KSP06TAs from Tayda that measure around 95. Most others I have on hand have been mentioned I’ve had the best luck with them by...

    Low Gain Silicon Transistors

I forget which suffix is the lowest gain of the Soviet KT315 (I believe КТ315И, but I'll double check when I'm home) but it's an awesome and cheap low hfe transistor. Weird pins but easy enough to finagle. I have a big ol' section of my drawer bins for low Hfe SI and I'll check to see if any I...

    Bring out yer Diptrace

You can define label positioning in a footprint in diptrace FWIW. Add text, right click it and select from the “show” menu. You’ll need to briefly populate refdes and value as you do it. This is how DT suggested doing bottom layer refdes labels and while that doesn’t work, it does let you nail...

    Modify Simulcast to NPN

Before trying to adapt the Narrowcast circuit to the Simulcast PCB I would just try socketing Q2 and try using a low HFE silicon PNP transistor - such as 2N2904, 2N2905A, 2N3703, etc, and using trimpots for R7 & R8 in case OC71 leakage (unsure if this is the case, but rather safe than sorry) has...

    KiCad v8 released

I fooled around with it long enough to be confident that diptrace is still 100% better for me. Same headaches as other kicad versions, doesn’t do anything faster or better than diptrace. Spice simulation is useless if I can draw the circuit in LTSpice in 1/10th of the time

    KiCad v8 released

I’ve thought about writing a plugin for it too. Its all python right?

    KiCad v8 released

There’s some really cool features in this release that I’ve been wanting in diptrace. Gonna install kicad 8 on my mac and take it for another whirl, thanks for the heads up! Have they made it easier to place components in a schematic yet? A sidebar like diptrace would be sooo nice
