It looks like only one of your jacks has a ground wire to the board, if I'm seeing correctly. You would need both if you're testing outside the box. Hope you can get it working! I built this year's ago and it's great.

Anyone know what the story is with the germanium version that the maker of the original put out a while back?

I had an old no-led Rat 2 back in the early 90s. I sold it at some point when I thought the filter knob was no longer working. Kicking myself years later as it would have been an easy fix! Would be curious to see the innards of a recent one too.

Forgot to mention, the optical bypass does use the H11F1M. Still like that design a lot and it's never given me issues.

Thank you! I took a look at Jason's Ubu Roi schem and could see the difference right away, very similar to what you mentioned as the moreideal configuration. He's got me covered but I'll probably try this fix at some point for fun and to potentially sell the GOAT off.

I did a BB-type build recently and am getting some intermittent footswitch pop, even though I used an opto bypass that should prevent that. Checking for voltage at the circuit in and out, I see that there is voltage on the output going from 0v up to just over 1mv. It sort of builds up slowly and...

Nice! All but one of my TB builds have just been wired as positive ground but of course are battery-only. Did not know there was a way to daisy chain without a charge pump. I did a PNP Fuzz Face recently and I'm pretty sure the charge pump is introducing noise and even causing some odd behavior...

That was a dual-channel preamp using FETs and Ge diodes. The FET needed for it went extinct so it was a short-lived offering. You could probably still find posts about it on the Madbean forum from around 2016-17. I know it probably inspired some of jubal81's offerings as Bolt and Forge.

Nice! This is on my eventual build list too. I've done a Standard Fuzz and a Kay Fuzz with a bunch of mods Mark Hammer came up with. They're both great but I have to do them all...that's a helpful point about the noise floor.

Seriously love the design! This is one of my favorites fuzzes too; it also happens to be one of my favorites overdrive/distortion circuits. Yes it can do that much!

RFTC were fantastic live. It was at the Howlin' Wolf in New Orleans and their horn section about blew the walls off the place! And John Reis stepped off the stage to personally toss out a guy whose vibe was throwing off the good times. Definitely wish I could have seen DLJ though!

I remember first hearing Drive Like Jehu on the way to a Rocket from the Crypt show in New Orleans in, I believe, 1993! Even just hearing that name again is good times. Great build!
