Emu Amp Sim - Bypass the speaker emulation?

Would it be possible to defeat the speaker emulation for running into a conventional speaker cab powered by a Class D amp?

    Mad Professor Simble Predriver

I notice that Mad Professor units are "making the rounds" on YT again. The Sweet Honey & Simble were hot items a number of years back, but I was always curious about the Predriver. It claims to have EQ enhancements, compression & boost all rolled into one. Sounds interesting, but does it have...

    Cleaver taming

I built a Cleaver for a friend w a foot switch to toggle btw normal and hot settings. Also plumbed a separate volume knob for the hot setting. He says its TOO hot. He normally puts about a 6-8 dB push on his Strat at all times and wants something a step up from there for solos. etc. It...

    Transformer search

Looking to build a Robinette 763 Micro. The archetype 125B output xformer is reasonably small, but I wonder if there might be an even smaller alternative as the amp is only putting out 1W and the 125B is designed for much heavier duty. Any suggestions? Maybe something designed for a headphone amp?

    Adding batteries

Want to put in a battery that is disengaged when 9v jack is plugged in. Do I just need a switched 9v jack or do I still need a switched 1/4" OUT jack for when the unit is not in use and unplugged from 9v jack?

    Cleaver clsarification

Building the newer Cleaver. Pls clarify the use of the circled eyelets. Are these just for calibration of the jfet's? It would be good if the build docs contained a brief description on how to bias the jfet's. Anybody got a link to a previous thread where this was spelled out?

    Bass Dude

Just downloaded the build docs for the Bass Dude. Curious about the tone stack design. Markedly different from the 5F6A design in the Fender schems. You like this one better?

    Sproing in FX loop

I want to pair a Sproing with SushiboxFX's Particle Accelerator. I know it was designed to go in front of the amp and maybe there's not much difference in the sound btw pre & post preamp, BUT if a feller were to place it post preamp (non-buffered loop) does the Sproing have the headroom to...

    Negative Feedback!!

No. . .not THAT kind of negative feedback. . . . the "amp" kind. I've been tinkering with the Ambassador to mod as a straight-up preamp. . . both as a DC30 and a '59 Bassman clone. The '59 has a Presence control (variable negative feedback) and as I dug around I noticed that many amps, even...

    Transcedence Boost parts clarification

The Transcendence Boost has two sockets for 100n caps, but one has a larger "footprint" than the other. Is there a distinction btw the two I'm unaware of? the build docs indicate the same for both.

    Transistor alignment (Modus Operandi)

Building a Modus Operandi and the Q2 socket (2n2222A) has a "staggered' pin placement. But the unit I got from Tayda is built like the 2n7000 in that it has in-line pins and a flat sided body. Should the flat side of the 2n2222A face "south", similar to the 2n7000?

    Universal PCB

Nathan, many moons ago you mentioned developing a universal pcb that would be flexible in approaching different "flavors" of preamps. The more I've looked at the Ambassador schematic (and learned more about the Matchless, Marshall, Fender schematics) I'm struck by how similar they all approach...

    Mini rotary switches

Will the mini rotary switches sold here on PPCB handle 300vdc?

    125B CAD file

Hammond has great DWG files for their enclosures, but my Google search didn't find anything for a 125B. Anybody know a source? I could even probably do a take off from a 3D file.

    5F6/JTM45

OK, I can't help myself. I had a Traynor Bassmaster (YBA-1) which is a clone of the '59 Bassman/JTM 45 and it was a glorious (but HEAVY) amp. So I've decided to sketch out a preliminary layout for a pedal version. I reviewed the original schematic, but also found this paired down layout from...

    Negative feedback in preamp pedals

I still have a love of my old 5F6 Fender Bassman. If you were to build a preamp pedal how could you emulate the negative feedback loop?

    LED Mystery

I built a tube preamp that has a "standard" foot switch bypass and a second foot switch that toggles an additional component in the tone stack in/out. Both have LED indicators that are wired in parallel as shown and drawing current directly from the 9v DC jack. The LED cathodes are foot...

    Calling all smart guys!!

What are the differences in the following approaches to attenuating a signal? What's the best way to preserve the "integrity" of the signal?

    Finally

Just completed my own blackface Fender preamp as well as one of Sushi's DIY'ers. Want to pair them with the Class D amp when/if PPCB ever gets one put together. I noticed the Finally in your pedal offerings. For those of us wanting to optimally condition the output of our tube preamps to play...

    Film cap polarity

I was researching about signal caps only to discover that there IS a polarity to non-electrolytic caps. Apparently there is. . . . inner foil-dielectric layer-outer foil. . . the outer foil functioning as a shield similar to audio cables. The lead coming off of the outer foil should be...
