Flesh Wound Fuzz (WaRNInG) Monty Python Content

That sent me down a rabbit hole looking for this song that my dad used to play in the car. The lyrics feature a shillelagh and I remember asking him what that was. Pretty sure he had no idea, but made something up anyway.

In Search Of… (post the obscure parts you need help finding)

I'm shopping parts for the Nobelium right now and that suggested XLR jack is out of stock at Mouser again. Did you end up finding an equivalent? Edit: Just found this thread where Nathan posted an equivalent...

Almost scrolled by this one ‘cause I thought it was another ring mod wish list post. ha! Looks badass!

    Epic fail (L4 kaputt)

Is Q7 facing the right way? I dread the silent pedal like we all do, but failures and repair work are the only time I really learn anything in this hobby. I try to look at it as an opportunity where I might be forced to look at the schematic in a meaningful way and learn something. Honestly I...

    Desolders

There's some technique involved with the powered suckers - works best if you can get the component leg sticking straight up into the nozzle. Then I'll let it heat for 1-2 seconds before I hit the suction, then move in a quick little circle hula-hooping around the leg. That will usually get the...

    Desolders

I got some of that good fluxed stuff and it gave me a whole new outlook on using braid. I've found the cheap stuff works just about as good if I give it a swipe with my liquid flux pen though. I think braid is the best at drawing out the last little bit of solder from a hole - when the...

Kliche Mini White SE No Sound

I compared your pic to the last one of these I built and found a couple resistors that look like they might not match. Grey/red/brown can all get mixed up in photos though. Check the stripe colors on these and make sure they match the build doc.

    Desolders

The fit and finish on the Yihua isn't amazing. It definitely feels like it was built cheaply but it's worked flawlessly so far, and I've used it enough at this point that if it died I'd probably just order another one. I'm sure the Haako ones are much nicer though. I had to swap a bunch of...

    Abyss Zvex Style

Looks great! I guess I hadn’t thought about the advantage of being able to run basically a row and a half.

I’m curious about your pedalboard. Horizontal 125bs look cool until I think about laying them out on a pedalboard.

SOLVED Duo phase wiring, rate and switches

Glad you got it going! I think this looks like the datasheet for the jacks you got. https://www.sameskydevices.com/product/resource/sj-63013g.pdf

    Soldering question

My goal is always to get the solder to flow through. Nice looking solder on both sides is a common feature of the gut shots from folks here who I look up to and who's work I consider to be the best. Both sides are connected though, so your pedal should still work fine. I think there is a risk if...

    Something like the Carbon Copy

That clock noise sticking in your ears after a while is a real thing. Something that made me feel better was pulling out my boss dm2-w and taking a hard listen to the clock noise from that and resetting my expectations. I got the noise from my DM-3 build slightly lower than my Boss pedal and I...

    LDRs for Duo-Phase

Those ke-10720s have been out of stock at Tayda for a while. I’m starting to wonder if they went extinct.

    Anyone seen this before?

    Pretty random.

    Clean enclosures?

Tayda enclosures seem reasonably clean to me, but they all get a careful alcohol wipe down before I clear coat them. If the one's you've got are oily, I'd start with a bucket of hot water and some degreaser. I like Simple Green.
