DEMO [perf/wood] Maxon ST-9 Super Tube Screamer

Nice build! The ST-9 is easily my favorite Tube Screamer.

SOLVED Basic Relay Bypass switching LED but not passing signal

Okay, I finally had the presence of mind to measure the opamp voltages and I noticed 0 volts on pin 7. I reflowed all the opamp pads and now it's working again! My best guess is that one of those pads had a poor solder joint and the connection was intermittent. Sorry for overlooking the basics...

SOLVED Basic Relay Bypass switching LED but not passing signal

Thanks! Not sure why I didn't think to do this. 😅 All of these check out, so I'm not sure how it's not working now when it was working in my "hardwire to ON" test. I did remove and reinstall the effect PCB when I replaced the relay board, so maybe something on the effect PCB is intermittently...

SOLVED Basic Relay Bypass switching LED but not passing signal

Yes to all of the above! :)

SOLVED Basic Relay Bypass switching LED but not passing signal

The effect PCB or the bypass PCB? As a test, I wired the jacks up to the respective IN/OUT pads on the effect PCB and it was passing signal.

SOLVED Basic Relay Bypass switching LED but not passing signal

Up until today, I've used the Basic Relay Bypass (latching) on at least 15 pedals without issue. Up until today... :ROFLMAO: For some reason, the first board + switch that I assembled would switch the LED but not pass signal when turned on. Things I checked: All solder joints are solid, and...

    Tayda footswitches?

I used the short-shaft version on a few pedals and they worked fine. Subjectively, I think the "pro" switches from SBP and LMS have a slightly better feel so I prefer to spend the extra $1.10 for those. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to use the Tayda switches if they were all I had.

    Tater Tot (Barber Small Fry)

I also built a Zen clone and could never quite bond with it. The tone was always darker than I preferred and there was a stiffness to the attack that I didn't like. The voicing and drive characteristics of the Simble are much more to my liking. :) As a side note, I recently joined a Dead...

    Tater Tot (Barber Small Fry)

Thank you! I'm still enjoying this pedal, though lately I've been using the Symbolic (Simble) for a change. I'll post a build report for that and a few others in the coming days.

    Even more new Tayda colors!

FWIW, I placed an order for a Viola Pink enclosure right after they went out of stock but before the site was updated. I ended up taking a chance on Viva Magenta and I'm pretty happy. It's hard to capture in a picture, but here it is next to a Love My Switches envelope and some Tayda bubble wrap...

Photos of these enclosure colours from Tayda? Matte Violet/Viola Pink/Pastel Violet

Indeed, Pantone says "Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known." And that it's "a new animated red that revels in pure...

Photos of these enclosure colours from Tayda? Matte Violet/Viola Pink/Pastel Violet

Has anyone tried the new(?) Viva Magenta? I placed an order for a Viola Pink enclosure last week and Tayda reached out to let me know that it's now out of stock with no ETA. They suggested Viva Magenta as an alternative, which looks darker in their photos but lighter on the Pantone swatches.

    UV print over hammered enclosures

I did a Mahayana/Zendrive and it turned out fine. Note that there was a white layer under the black.

Recommendations for live jam software to jam with buddies over the net.

As others have mentioned, latency is going to be your greatest challenge. In 2020, I got this working via JackTrip (instructions here, though it now seems to have turned into a commercial offering). I was in SF and my friend was in Portland, ~600 miles away. Latency becomes...

Bass Kliché Mini (with Chuck D. Bones mods)

I recently wanted to build a Klone for bass and decided to take some inspiration from Chuck's well-considered and helpfully explained mods. This is my third Kliché Mini build and they've all been a breeze — really a fan of this layout! Figuring that I might want to tweak the clean channel...

    VFE MiniMU drill template?

If you're going to use Tayda's drill service, this might help. :) https://drill.taydakits.com/box-designs/new?public_key=ZWhqRjR6d1dQRXhrT2EwaFBoQXJyQT09Cg==

    Disarray (Suhr Riot Reloaded)

I should clarify: the discount is on the drilling and UV printing services, not on the enclosures themselves. For example, when you buy 10 drill service jobs, the price drops from $4.50 to $3.00 apiece. And UV printing drops from $4.00 to $3.00 (with a $0.50 discount on the gloss service too if...

    Disarray (Suhr Riot Reloaded)

Yeah! And the best part is that you don't have to get 10 identical items: you can have a different drill and UV printing template for each of them and still get the discount.

    Disarray (Suhr Riot Reloaded)

I use a dab of hot glue between the switch and PCB. The six pieces of bus wire alone (four to the main PCB and two to the switch) hold it pretty securely but I figure it's better to be safe. 😄

    Disarray (Suhr Riot Reloaded)

Thank you both! I went minimal with the design on this one because I was trying to get to the 10-enclosure-discount threshold at Tayda and I was running out of time to place the order. Similar situation with a Tellurian / Earth Drive I did as part of this batch, which I'm now really liking and...
