    Tayda packing and shipping

There might be a flood of orders trying to get in before the tariffs kick in at the end of the month. I know I'm putting together a monstrous cart.

    LinkedIn Learning?

I liked the Electronics courses by Barron Stone. Some review, some new understanding of the basics. The Illustrator courses are very good, and there's a basic Affinity course.

    delay pcb recommendation

I've found that a simple PT2399 delay like the PPCB Seabed is perennially useful. In my case it's Madbean's Cave Dweller, but the Seabed is the same basic deal. It may sometimes get moved off the board, but it never makes it to the shelf.

    Your favorite JIS screwdriver set?

I clicked on this thread with the sole purpose of hating on JHS.

    Binder for PCB storage

if you have a Daiso nearby, they have a lot of options and sizes. Probably need to use their binder.

Tayda UV printing - what counts as white?

What I do: finish the design on the color layer convert all text to outlines, and convert all strokes to fills make sure I've already converted any bitmap images to outlines select all and merge, so that nothing overlaps anything else copy the entire design and paste in place to the white...

    Universal Color Codes for Wiring?

I try to be consistent about having output be a "dirtier" color than input. White > Yellow, etc.

    T12/T15 soldering iron tip recommendations.

I've used a knockoff D16 for a few years. It goes from 0805 SMD to heating up pot legs fast enough to not bother changing it out. I also have a BC1.5 ("hoof") and a D12 for the odd tiny pads or smaller SMD if I someday decide to go that route. I use the T12/D16 more than the FX888d with a...

What's the most Mac-friendly PCB Cad?

I use EasyEDA on both platforms. I don't like it with just the trackpad. It has a fairly smooth integration for ordering from JLCPCB.

    Tayda Nuts

I order extra nuts because I keep losing them. It is a peculiarly chips : dip style disequilibrium 🙃

    TPA3118 60W Power Amp Module

I ordered 5 more of the same item and they all have 32 pins. Caveat emptor, of course.

    TPA3118 60W Power Amp Module

FWIW I just got these from Aliexpress. I was ordering other stuff and tossed them in the cart just in case they might be genuine. I haven't powered them up yet, but at least they have 32 pins? This is the item I I ordered: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807671722161.html I'm ordering a...

    Runoffgroove pcbs from jlcpcb?

The folder only has Eagle board and schematic files, so we have to open them in Eagle and output the gerbers. I tried it and it sort of worked with the default settings--JLC's gerber viewer didn't show the silkscreen layers (they do show in the initial view). I'm guessing I need to scrutinize...

How do you guys store your PCBs?

I like to print the build doc when the PCB arrives, because there's always a danger that the board will be revised before I get to it in the queue  Bean archives the docs so they're easy to find, but then I get distracted and shop for more....

What strings do you guys use?

Ernie Ball and/or D'Addarrio basic strings, with a couple singles subbed in for better tension balance and/or wound 3rd, etc. Buying strings is our excuse for driving across town to play all the guitars & amps for a couple hours at the local guitar shop 🤷‍♂️

All Tayda pre-drilled, powder coated enclosures out of stock

Bummer to lose the cheaper option. Although, it seemed like the order progress was no different from using the drill template system. Stupid question time: is there a single source for all the various PPCB drill templates? I think I have maybe half of them. It can be an adventure tracking down...

    AionFX Ember Distortion Gate

I eventually jumpered 1 & 2 on the Grind Customs Aeons (same circuit and gate section, but it is 18v). It's jumper 1 & 2 for gate off, 500k for gate full. I'm not much of a gate guy, but I found it a bit much. I think the pot I used was bad (Tayda B500K)--it was gating a little at full CCW. I...

    Storage Questions

I use this bin from the dollar store: I'm trying out the card binder thing, with empty spaces for the E24 values I haven't needed to order yet. It's a matter of time.... Still, I think I prefer the long slim box method, even if it's a little harder to put away.

    Bring out yer Diptrace

One thing I like to do is save a copy and just unroute the whole thing and redo it. I always find a few ways to simplify. Or even (gasp) run the auto-router just to see what it comes up with. Usually it reveals where moving a part could lead to simpler routing. I also like to keep in mind that...

    Bring out yer Diptrace

I'd check the C17 traces against the schematic--if it had you follow a ratsnest line, there could be an incorrect connection. The G2 pad takes a long and convoluted path to the ground pad at the top, including passing through R1's thermals. I like to evaluate the ground pour after every trace I...
