1N4001 v/s 1N4007 Diode Question

Hello Gang !

Im checking in with you experts on this matter ...
Im in the midst of loading a PCB for the MINI-DRIVE (PCB032 VER. 2 ) Aka Fulldrive 2

The clipping diodes spec'd are 4007 , but i discovered i only have 4001 diodes on hand etc .

So the million dollar question ...

Will a 4001 sub in for a 4007 ?
Is there gonna be a audible difference in the clipping ?

Absolutely fine in the context of clipping diodes. The 1n400x series all have the same forward voltage range (see datasheet https://www.onsemi.com/pdf/datasheet/1n4001-d.pdf), the only differences are voltage rating which are irrelevant here.

So if its all about the forward voltage of the diode , could you put most any diode in its place with the similar specs ??

For clipping diodes, yes, for the most part. If the diode is used for anything else, no…since they are all rated for different power…
