After an 18 month hiatus from building, i decided to jump head first into the deep end with this build. I’ve literally wanted to build this since i built my first pedal a little over 3 years ago but didn’t feel confident enough at the time.
I took my time with this one. I knew massive troubleshooting would be a hassle so before i did anything i double and triple checked everything. Had to pause a couple of times to check the forums to relearn some things i had previously forgotten.
I also learned from past mistakes and tested each pcb with my test board before doing the off board wiring.
There were a few minor errors. I wish i had placed the decal slighly higher on the enclosure to give me more space at the bottom for the footswitches. I had wanted then evenly spaced, but that screw hole in the middle of the enclosure made that impossible.
I could have also made a little more space between pcbs. It worked fine when i tested the spacing, but once i added the plastic pot covers , i really had to squeeze it to get in. I probably could have made up another enclosure, but i had already ruined one on a previous attempt and wasn’t about to reapply the over the top decals on all sides of the enclosure. So, for now I’ll just be happy with the result.
I remember reading somewhere a couple of years ago on these forums that these pcbs can be noisy and ordered shielded wire that has literally sat on my desk for two years. I hate working with it and probably could have cut it shorter for space management but again, it was something i could live with.
The best part is that all 3 worked the first time i fired it up. I was so paranoid that i was going to break something while trying to cram everything into this box.
I’m not sure what possessed me to decal the sides the way i did. Not sure its a hassle I will ever do again, but I’m glad i did. Reminds me of Zubaz and i like it.
I’m too tired to go see what all i can make this thing do today, but can’t wait to see what i can do with this thing and figure out where on my board its going to go.
