I keep all of my components loose in a 30 gallon "Brute" trash bin.
I have a magnifying glass and an led flashlight I use to find the right component base upon the markings correlated to an iPhone Electronics reference app. Once I finally realized that resistor markings only read correctly in ONE direction, this got a lot easier.
It is definitely a monastic pursuit and I am only able to produce one or two pedals a year, I cherish them all the more for the stoic effort I exert bring them to life... Fly little bird... be free..
Just kidding, plastic divided parts containers from Hobby Lobby, lots of them...
