I think it's only fair to say a big, heartfelt thankyou to Mr PCB (Thanks Pedal!) for the Strawberry Red OD board. It's slightly obscure but I have wanted to be able to modify an SROD for a couple of years now. And now I have and it sounds bloody great. :)

A friend came around to my place today - he manages to fit guitar pedal testing into his busy working schedule on a Friday morning sometimes. We tried a few recent builds but it was the SROD which really stole the show. Wow. It's one of those rare ODs which sounds good with the gain barely cracked, with gain a little higher to get a jangley chime and even with gain up to Foo Fighters saturation levels. Playing through a 5E3 Deluxe we were able to get thumping Triple Rectifier sounds with my Strat. Not my usual sound but my friend was getting plenty of chug with a drop-D tuning. Very convincing it was too.

And then he just rolled back the volume on the guitar a little (My Strat has a cap on the volume pot) and it sounded amazing then also. So few ODs work well with the volume rolled back.

All I have done is a few very simple mods to tweak it to my taste - added a little brightness, used different clipping diodes and cut a hint of bass. The Strawberry built as stock is already a fantastic OD but now it's close to being perfect for me. I don't have one favourite OD but this one is in my top three now. It's quite a modern sound but very, very usable, and great for fattening up a Strat. The low end doesn't get mushy at all and even with loads of gain you can hear every note in a chord. Remarkable.

Thanks Robert!

It's whatever Fender puts on their guitars. It's a treble bleed cap (not sure what value they use) so that when you roll the volume down you don't lose high-end which is what usually happens. There are many permutations of treble bleed around - google it and you'll see!

I strayed a couple of times to PCB's provided by other Pro Vendors & I paid the Price, no it was not Sushi!
Before I even started I didnt like the layout or size of the spacing or design of component placement.
I built them & they worked but not correctly as I suspected they would!
You know when it's from the same mistake as DIY vero's that are listed on the net!
They never made it to Boxing up stage!!!
Long Story Short, I only like the PCB's provided by Robert @ PedalPCB, They are User Friendly!
I like the fact that all the values are written on the PCB so the only way to stuff it is putting values that don't match it!

Thanks Robert!

Liking Robert’s boards so much for their accuracy and ease of assembly has me so loyal that if there’s not a ppcb version I’ll just fabricate my own board with the complete intent of hoping it could pass as a pedalpcb layout. Robert’s truly a one of kind guy here!

Totally agreed on the amazing job Robert does with PCB design. I built a few Tonepad and GPCB boards years ago and the poor design quality really discouraged me. When I found PPCB a few years ago I was energized and excited. Board mounted pots and consistent design and part placement, plus component values on the board? Take my money!!!! I don’t think I would have continued pursuing this hobby otherwise. Thank you so much Robert!

PedalPCB was the first time I'd seen premade PCBs. It took me all of five seconds to throw all of my vero stuff out after that. I've also learned a lot and started a new hobby that has taken over almost all of my free time outside of family and work obligations. I need to play my bass more 😂

This place helped me discover that building pedals is like a meditation to me. It calms my mind and helps me focus. If I'm feeling crappy an hour of populating boards and soldering helps straighten me out. It's like therapy, only more expensive 😂

Aside from that this forum has introduced me to some pretty rad people and I've made some good friends here. You've done a lot to enrich the lives of the people here just by creating this space for all of us and I really appreciate that.

I'm sorry you're having a rough go of it now, @Robert I'm sending you good vibes and happy thoughts.

Same... exactly how I feel about this group of folks.... Some insanely talented people in here as well as just stellar humans. Finding pedalpcb has really changed some of my anxiety issues and I found a way to relax and create something with my hands and focus on other things... so thankful for Robert.
