At the risk of incurring more disdain from my enabler sensei @szukalski who thinks I spend way too much time messing about with my guitar builds, I figure I'd better get caught up on some recent pedal build reports......
This is a new-ish one from @Robert and I've been chatting with @Guardians of the analog during the development of this circuit which he collaborated with @Robert on.
I'm not familiar at all with the Boss SD-2 but my understanding is that it's a dual overdrive pedal with two modes. This board is the SD-2's "Crunch setting" only.
I'm always down to build any Boss pedal that's available as a DIY and this one is a nice addition to my growing collection of Boss pedals that I've built.
The gain structure is somewhat reminiscent of the Blues Driver/OD-2 & OD-3 to me.
Some neat sounds available and it's a more "modern" I would say kind of drive.
Super easy build with fairly minimal components. I built it off the silkscreen and used a real Rohm 1SS133 clipping diode.
Here's a quickie demo with my Tokai Les Paul with a set of Wolfetone Legend unpotted PAF's.
